Em entrevista ao podcast Santo Papo, da SPFC Play, Jonathan Calleri revelou que quase vestiu a camisa de outro clube brasileiro. De acordo com o atacante, ele havia fechado tudo com o Atlético-MG antes de se transferir ao São Paulo, na sua primeira passagem, em 2016, ainda quando tinha apenas 22 anos.
O responsável pela mudança de planos de Calleri foi o treinador Patón Bauza, que comandava o São Paulo na época. Acertado com o Atlético-MG, o atacante recebeu uma ligação do técnico dois dias antes de embarcar rumo a Belo Horizonte para assinar seu contrato com o Galo.
“Eu lembro que estava tudo fechado com o Atlético-MG. O Aguirre, que foi treinador aqui, tinha me ligado e já estava tudo mais que certo. Só faltava viajar. Então, eu recebi a ligação, acho que dois dias antes, do ‘Patón’ Bauza”, contou Calleri ao podcast.
O que pesou para o São Paulo ser escolhido?
Segundo Calleri, a escolha pelo São Paulo foi pensando nas maiores chances de jogar. Ele relembrou que Lucas Pratto era o titular e capitão do Galo na época e, provavelmente, o técnico Aguirre, se jogasse apenas com um atacante, não iria escolhe-lo.
“Ele (Bauza) me falou ‘olha, eu sei que está indo para outro clube, eu te conheço, sei que precisa de carinho e eu vou te dar todo o carinho possível aqui. Estou procurando um nove, se quiser vir, vai ser muito bem-vindo’. Comecei a pensar, nesse momento, um cara, de 22 anos, vai para o Atlético, tem o Prato, que era o capitão do time, se o Aguirre jogar só com um, quem vai sair sou eu. Acho que vou para o São Paulo”, relembrou.
Calleri também revelou que não escutou os conselhos do seu pai e de um tio. Ambos, quando questionados, indicaram que a conclusão do acordo com o Atlético-MG era o melhor caminho para o atacante.
“Eu estava com meu tio, meu pai e a pessoa que era do grupo. Eu perguntei assim: ‘você, o que acha que devo fazer?’, ‘acho que tem que ir para o Atlético’. Meu tio: ‘o que eu tenho que fazer?’. ‘Para o Atlético’. Meu pai: ‘Atlético’. Quer saber, vou para o São Paulo. Falaram ‘é sua decisão, você que manda’. Então eu vim para o São Paulo”, contou o argentino.
