The Kansas City Chiefs road to redemption after getting blown out by the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Boxl LIX has not started the way the AFC champions had hoped for.
Mahomes and Kelce hyped up the Chiefs but it wasn’t enough as they fall to the Seahawks
The juggernauts lost to the Arizona Cardinals 20-17 during Week 1 of the NFL preseason, and Friday night they fell to the Seattle Seahawks 33-16.
Even though the Chiefs have been able to win the AFC Championship five out of the last six years (three in a row since 2022), there`s a couple of challengers that are knocking the door hard: the Buffalo Bills, lead by NFL MVP Josh Allen; and the Baltimore Ravens, lead by former MVP Lamar Jackson.

Mahomes and Kelce hyped up the Chiefs
Superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes and iconic tight end Travis Kelce had the Kansas City Chiefs locked in before their preseason showdown with the Seattle Seahawks. The superstar duo huddled their teammates and Mahomes demanded energy all night long, setting the tone with his voice instead of his arm.

Despite the hype, Mahomes and Kelce never touched the field. Other stars like Chris Jones, Nick Bolton, Drue Tranquill, and Trent McDuffie also stayed on the sidelines. Without their presence, the Chiefs struggled to match the Seahawks‘ intensity.
Backup quarterback Gardner Minshew delivered flashes of brilliance, even pulling off a Mahomes-like touchdown strike to Robert Tonyan, who has cemented his roster spot this summer. Still, the Seahawks capitalized and handed Kansas City a 33-16 loss, dropping them to 0-2 in the preseason.
A lot to digest before facint the Bears
After falling to the Seattle Seahawks, the Kansas City Chiefs will close out the preseason this upcoming Friday with a matchup against the Chicago Bears at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium, home of the defending AFC champions and Super Bowl contenders.
In terms of injuries, linebacker Jack Cochrane (knee), cornerback Nazeeh Johnson (shoulder), cornerback Nohl Williams (concussion protocol), safety Mike Edwards (hamstring) and defensive end Felix Anudike-Uzomah (hamstring) left Friday’s game early.
Although the game against Seattle was out of reach at that point in terms of the score, the fact that the players still in the game – from Moore to the blocking unit – kept battling was a testament to the competition taking place up and down the roster.
