Sowohl Beneke als auch Gidsel bedienen den rechten Rückraum, aber der Däne ist gesetzt. Im SPORT BILD-Interview räumte Beneke vor wenigen Tagen, den zuvor ausgeschlossenen Wechselwunsch doch noch ein.

Beneke: „Hier bei den Füchsen muss und will man jedes Spiel gewinnen. Da ist klar, dass man mit Mathias immer ins Spiel geht. Aber da muss ich mich dann halt umschauen, wie ich das weiter mache. Deshalb sehe ich da jetzt anders drauf als im Dezember.“

[–>Die Konsequenz: Beneke wird wechseln. Wie nun offiziell bekannt wurde, schließt sich der Nationalspieler für die kommende Saison der Daikin Handball-Bundesliga auf Leihbasis dem ThSV Eisenach an. Im Eisenacher Rückraum ist genug Platz. Nachdem Nationalspieler Marko Grgic Richtung Flensburg floh und Ersatz Aleksandar Capric (21) sich schwer verletzte, verpflichteten die Thüringen bislang nur den Serben Vukasin Antonijevic (21). Der hat zwar bereits Champions-League-Erfahrung. Beneke bringt dafür den Glanz eines deutschen Meistertitels mit.

Beneke dazu: „Im Endeffekt ging das nun doch recht flott mit Eisenach, die Mannschaft und die Verantwortlichen haben mich super begrüßt, das hat alles super geklappt. (…) Besonders in Eisenach ist die Halle mit den euphorischen Fans, darauf freue ich mich.“

Füchse-Geschäftsführer Bob Hanning hatte schon länger erwogen, den U21-Weltmeister zu verleihen. Zum abgeschlossenen Deal sagt er: „Die Ausleihe zum ThSV Eisenach ist die logische Konsequenz, für alle Seiten ist das eine gute Entscheidung. Er wird sich unter Trainer Sebastian Hinze weiterentwickeln, davon bin ich überzeugt.“

Der Wechsel zu Eisenach heißt jedoch nicht, dass Beneke keine Zukunft mehr in Berlin hat. Das betont Trainer Jaron Siewert: „Und wir werden hoffentlich nach einem Jahr einen besseren und stärkeren Max Beneke zurückbekommen, der uns in Zukunft noch mehr Freude bereiten kann.“
