Meeting apresentou novos atletas como Mariana Tolão (Divulgação/CPB)
O esporte paralímpico brasileiro viu chegar ao fim, a edição 2025 do Meeting Loterias CAIXA neste domingo (17). A última etapa se deu no Centro de Treinamento Paralímpico Brasileiro, em São Paulo, e reuniu cerca de 1.100 atletas em seis modalidades: atletismo, bocha, natação, halterofilismo, tiro com arco e tênis de mesa.
A competição passou por todo o Brasil, desde abril, e durante este período, foram realizadas provas de sete modalidades Brasil afora, com recorde de 7.478 inscrições, um avanço de 16% em relação aos 6.437 de 2024, segundo o Comitê Paralímpico Brasileiro.
Competição revela talento no lançamento de disco
Neste encerramento do meeting, um dos talentos apresentados aos torcedores presentes no CT foi Marina Tolão, que é formada em fisioterapia e tem 31 anos. Ela é portadora de esclerose múltipla, mesma doença que acometeu Beth Gomes, referência para Tolão.
“Foi um pouco assustador quando eu descobri estar em um corpo que está se degenerando por uma doença que não tem cura. Mas, depois que eu vi a Beth, que convive há 30 anos com a mesma condição, foi uma esperança. Se ela consegue ser uma campeã mesmo tendo sido diagnosticada em uma época em que havia muito menos medicamentos e tratamentos, eu também consigo”, afirmou a atleta, que marcou 6,10m no arremesso de peso da classe F34 (lesões encefálicas).”, comentou a nova atleta do disco.
Brasil foi top 5 no quadro de medalhas em Paris 2024
O meeting paralímpico é uma boa oportunidade para a formação de novos atletas visando a delegação para as paralimpíadas de Los Angeles 2028. Em Paris 2024, o País obteve uma inédita classificação no top 5 no quadro de medalhas. A missão brasileira obteve 25 ouros, 26 pratas e 38 bronzes em uma disputa ferrenha com a Itália. Vale ressaltar que os brasileiros quebraram o recorde de pódios com 89 medalhas. O recorde anterior era dos Jogos de Tóquio com 71.
