Durante la madrugada del domingo 17 de agosto al lunes 18 tuvo lugar la primera edición de Supernova Strikers, un evento de boxeo amateur, similar a ‘La Velada del Año 5’ que organiza Ibai Llanos aquí en España, que se celebró en el Palacio de los Deportes de Ciudad de México, cuna de este deporte. Su éxito fue rotundo y, tal y como apunta Julio Moreno, consultor de Manejo de Crisis, Comunicación y MKT Digital, superó los 10 millones de espectadoresentre las diferentes plataformas que lo retransmitían.
En él pudieron verse caras conocidas como las de WestCol, Alana o Shelao –todos ellos también participantes en alguna de las ediciones de las veladas que ha llevado a cabo el streamer vasco-, que fueron algunos de los protagonistas de los cinco combates que se realizaron.

El evento tuvo una enorme acogida. Así lo demuestran los números. No sólo por la gente que abarrotó las gradas del ‘Domo de Cobre’ -las alrededor de 20.000 localidades con las que cuenta el recinto estaban vendidas- sino también por parte de quienes optaron por seguirlo de manera online desde sus casas, bien fuese a través de los medios tradicionales o las plataformas digitales que lo retransmitían, o desde las salas habilitadas por Cinépolis, uno de los patrocinadores.
Según las estimaciones ofrecidas por Moreno, el evento llegó a superar los 10 millones de espectadores y a desbancar al reciente directo que realizó Ibai con su velada como el más visto de la historia. Sin embargo, a la hora de analizar este dato hay que tener en cuenta la condición de que se obtuvo gracias al recuento de las diversas cifras resultantes de cada uno de los soportes en los que podía verse.
Uno de ellos fue DAZN, que usa una metodología rating televisivo, es decir, no se cuentan solo las pantallas, sino cuántas personas están detrás de cada una de ellas. Por este motivo, este hecho podría dar como resultado una cifra estimada de espectadores, lo que establecería una diferencia más que notable con el evento del español, el cuál superó ese número únicamente con los espectadores que se dieron cita en su canal de Twitch.
