Parts fue expulsada del equipo el 6 de febrero, el día en que la NCAA, el mayor organismo rector de los deportes universitarios de Estados Unidos, emitió su nueva política sobre las atletas transgénero, después de la orden ejecutiva del presidente de Estados Unidos.
La demanda también nombra a otras personas, entre ellas el director atlético Brad Koch, dado que la atleta alega que sus decisiones la llevaron a un estado depresivo y a causarse autolesiones.
“Respaldamos las acusaciones de la denuncia”, declaró Susie Cirilli, abogada que representa a Parts. “Como se afirma en la denuncia, la NCAA es una organización privada que emitió una política intolerante. Swarthmore College optó por seguir esa política e ignorar las leyes federales y estatales”.
