On Monday, August 18, Rich Eisen now known for his work with NFL Network, reunited with SportsCenter, anchoring the 11 pm. ET edition live from Los Angeles.
His return to the show that first made him a TV staple was both heartfelt and symbolic. He is also preparing to launch The Rich Eisen Show on ESPN’s platforms in the fall as part of the network’s acquisition of some NFL poductions

Eisen’s heartfelt homecoming
Eisen’s return to SportsCenter wasn’t just a cameo, it was a full cirdle broadcast moment. Anchoring the post Monday Night Football slot live from L.A., he was joined by ESPN NFL analyst Mina Kimes. The appearance marked his fist time back behind the desk since he left ESPN in 2003 to become the face of NFL Network.
Viewers and fans on social media responded with nostalgia and enthusiasm, using words like “legendary”, “nostalgia always hits”, and “amazing news” to celebrate his return.
A strategic bridge to his digital return
This emotionally charged broadcast also sets the stage for Eisen’s upcoming digital debut. Starting September 2, The Rich Eisen Show will stream on ESPN+, Disney+, ESPN’s direct-to-consumer app, and may even air on ESPN Radio.
The timing of this return also aligns with ESPN’s broader content strategy. The network is strengthening its direct-to-consumer offerings and building momentum ahead of launching its new streaming platform and bolstering coverage of NFL assets.
