Since tearing his Achilles tendon, Jayson Tatum had remained silent about his rehabilitation and recovery. Until today.
In an NBA video, the Boston Celtics All-Star shared updates and didn’t sugarcoat his situation.

The truth about Tatum’s rehabilitation
This injury ended his season during Game 4 of the Eastern Conference semifinals against the New York Knicks. However, since then, the 27-year-old has been working to return to the court and “get back to who he was.”
On June 27, Jayson shared a tweet about his recovery, albeit one filled with discouragement and little hope: “Day 45… this is some bullsh*t,” he wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
In a new and surprising video shared by the NBA’s official X account, Tatum described the process as “tedious,” revealing that he has rehabilitation sessions six days a week, that he has been training in the gym and in the pool, and shared a detail that left his fans amazed: he no longer wears a boot.
“The first six weeks of this were probably the toughest six weeks of my life,” he revealed with brutal honesty.
Since his injury and as the days passed, the Celtics star confessed that he had to be resilient and hold on to the idea that “better days would come“:
“Just have to accept it and realize it happened. And now I have to do everything in my power to get back to who I was and get back to playing,” he said hopefully.
In the post, fans left messages of support for JT: “Nice words from Jayson. There are Better days ahead indeed” commented one user. “wishing you a speedy recovery!” shared another fan. “He will be the first player to win mvp post achilles” predicted another.
Just a couple of months after his injury, his progress is growing by leaps and bounds and, of course, generating expectations among his fans. Although his schedule and return date have not been revealed and there is no exact date, Tatum could have his place on the team before the end of the 2025-26 season.
However, in the midst of a season of readjustment, with figures such as Luke Kornet, Jrue Holiday, and Kristaps Porzingis out of the team, it is unlikely that the Boston will rush his return, nor would it be advisable. In fact, Celtics team president, Rich Gotham, has maintained that there is no deadline for the NBA star’s return.
In the meantime, all that remains is to wait, although one thing is certain: JT will continue to work hard to return to the court as soon as possible.
