According to the Los Angeles Times, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts and shortstop Mookie Betts held a meeting with none other than the president of baseball operations, Andrew Friedman, immediately after Monday’s loss.
The meeting occurred after the Dodgers fell 4-3 to the Colorado Rockies, a game where a defensive error in the ninth inning cost them the result.
According to Kevin Baxter of the Los Angeles Times, Betts met with Roberts and Friedman, though the details of the conversation were kept private. However, given how the game ended, there’s little doubt about its focus.
Teoscar Hernández failed to handle a short double by Ezequiel Tovar, which allowed Warming Bernabel to score after a single. It wouldn’t be surprising if Dave Roberts asked Mookie Betts to return to a position he dominates in the outfield to reduce errors.
Roberts has allowed Mookie to play shortstop, but the team’s needs might require their superstar to return to his natural position, where he has won Gold Gloves, especially with the playoffs approaching, where defense becomes even more critical.

“We were playing no-doubles. It’s a big outfield. I was playing pretty far [back]. I tried to make the play. I didn’t,” Hernandez said.
“It came off my glove, unfortunately. Things happen. I just have to wash it. This game is over with.”
Roberts was left frustrated after the game, calling for Hernandez to improve.
“This was a hard one to kind of put into words,” Roberts said.
“He’s got to get better out there,” Roberts added. “There’s just no way to put it. I know there’s effort – it’s not a lack of effort. But the thing is, we’ve just got to get better. We do. I don’t know what else to say.”
