Pünktlich zum Bundesliga-Auftakt liefert Mario Basler mal wieder eine starke These zum Meisterschaftsrennen. Denn: Während bei den meisten der FC Bayern, Dortmund und Leverkusen als Titel-Favoriten gehandelt werden, sieht der Ex-Nationalspieler eine ganz andere Mannschaft vorne.
In seinem Podcast „Basler Ballert“ verriet Basler: „Ich glaube, dass die Eintracht ein ganz gewaltiges Wörtchen mitreden wird und die könnten die Überraschung sein, so wie es Leverkusen vor zwei Jahren war. (…) Es wird wahrscheinlich viele überraschen, ich tippe, dass die Eintracht Deutscher Meister wird.“
[–>Ein echter Paukenschlag, denn: Die Frankfurter trennten in der vergangenenen Saison ganze 22 Punkte von Meister Bayern. Dazu fehlt der SGE nicht nur Kreativspieler Omar Marmoush (26, wechselte zu ManCity) – mit Offensiv-Juwel Hugo Ekitiké (23, wechselte zu Liverpool) ist jetzt auch der zweitgefährlichste Frankfurter nicht mehr in den eigenen Reihen.
Die prominenten Abgänge sieht Basler allerdings als Stärke. Er meint: „Ich finde alles, was da die letzten Jahre passiert ist, ausschließlich positiv. Wenn man jedes Jahr Spieler für 100 Millionen verkauft, dann macht man erstmal alles richtig.“
Zwar sei es schwierig für Mannschaft, immer ihre beste Spieler zu verlieren, „aber Eintracht Frankfurt ist ja das Paradebeispiel dafür, in der Winterpause Spieler wie Marmoush abzugeben und trotzdem in die Champions League zu kommen.“ Tatsächlich konnte die SGE auch nach dem Abgang des Offensiv-Stars ihren beeindruckenden dritten Platz behaupten.

Darum findet Basler: „Alles, was da die letzten Jahre passiert, ist erstaunlich, da kann man nur applaudieren und deswegen freue ich mich auf die Saison mit der Eintracht.“ Er könne in der Arbeit von den SGE-Verantwortlichen um Sport-Vorstand Markus Krösche (44) „nichts Negatives finden“, lobte der Ex-Nationalspieler weiter.
