Der 19-Jährige, geboren in Tansania und australischer Nationalspieler, erzielte beim 1:1 seines Klubs Watford bei Swansea sein erstes Tor im englischen Fußball. In der 35. Minute schlenzte er einen 25-Meter-Freistoß über die Mauer in den linken Winkel – unhaltbar!
Kurios: Eigentlich wollte sich Kapitän Moussa Sissoko den Ball nehmen. Doch Irankunda überredete den erfahrenen Franzosen: „Ich habe zu ihm gesagt: Ich fühle mich sicher. Er fragte mehrmals, ob ich das wirklich kann. Da meinte ich: Schau dir meine Highlights an! Danach habe ich den Ball einfach in die Ecke gesetzt.“
Irankunda, der in Australien bei Adelaide United groß wurde und danach bei Bayern München nicht den Durchbruch schaffte, war kaum zu stoppen. Mit Tempo und Dribblings brachte er die Abwehr mehrfach ins Schwitzen.
