United pod taktovkou Amorima získali v nejvyšší soutěži 28 bodů za 29 zápasů. V průměru tedy necelý bod na utkání. Při přepočtu na celou sezonu to dělá zisk 37 bodů. Což by v žádném z deseti posledních ročníků nestačilo na lepší než šestnáctý flek. A hned ve čtyřech případech by to znamenalo osmnácté místo a sestup.
Rudým ďáblům se nepodařilo zvítězit v ani jednom ze dvou utkání aktuální sezony. V prvním kole podlehli 0:1 Arsenalu, v neděli remizovali 1:1 na hřišti Fulhamu i kvůli zahozené penaltě kapitána Bruna Fernandese.
„Jako tým ještě musíme hodně dospět. Nejdůležitější pro mě je, že jsme v týdnu tvrdě pracovali. Budeme se zlepšovat,“ věří Amorim.
Jenže vsadili byste si, že se tak stane?
United v létě vyplázli 200 milionů liber (přes 5,6 miliardy korun) za nové borce do ofenzivní linie. Bryana Mbeuma, Matheuse Cunhu a Benjamina Šeška.
Výsledek? Zatím žádný.
V úvodním kole gól nevstřelili, proti Fulhamu jediný zásah United zařídil nešťastný vlastenec Rodriga Munize.
Ještě jedna pikantnost. Proti Fulhamu evidují statistické společnosti jen jedinou vytvořenou šanci fotbalistů anglického (spícího) giganta.
Kdo se o ni postaral? Gólman Altay Bayindir dalekonosným nákopem, po němž Cunhu vychytal Bernd Leno. Hráči v poli si žádnou gólovku nepřipravili. Hlavně po pauze to byla vyloženě křeč.
„Jediné, z čeho ve druhé půli hrozili, byly standardky,“ všiml si kouč Fulhamu Marco Silva.
United prožívají nedobré roky a propadají se níž a níž. Patnácté místo v konečné tabulce minulého ročníku budiž důkazem.
A co hůř. Pokud budou sbírat body tak, jako dosud pod Amorimem, s takřka stoprocentní pravděpodobností se nevyhnou boji o záchranu.
