Pittsburgh Steelers 19, Carolina Panthers 10
Pittsburgh closed out its preseason slate with a 19-10 win over Carolina, powered by efficient quarterback play and a perfect night from rookie kicker Ben Sauls. But the biggest headline from the night wasn’t about production — it was about availability.
First-round pick Derrick Harmon went down early with a non-contact knee injury and didn’t return, casting immediate doubt over his status for the regular season. The 21st overall pick had flashed promise throughout camp, and his absence would leave a significant hole on the Steelers’ defensive front.
Skylar Thompson was sharp in relief of Mason Rudolph, completing 11 of his 13 passes and delivering the night’s first touchdown throw — a 24-yard strike to Lance McCutcheon. He also connected deep with Scotty Miller, who led all players in receiving yards (82).
Carolina, meanwhile, rested nearly all key contributors.
New York Giants 42, New England Patriots 10
New York’s preseason finale turned into a showcase for depth, as the Giants cruised past New England 42-10. Rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart delivered a couple of big-time throws, including a 50-yard strike and a red-zone score, before exiting after a first-quarter hit. The team later confirmed he cleared concussion protocol.
With Russell Wilson inactive, Dart opened the game and completed 6-of-12 passes for 81 yards. His longest completion — a deep connection with Gunner Olszewski — highlighted his arm talent, while a fumble on a scramble reminded observers of his still-developing decision-making.
Running back Cam Skattebo logged his first preseason snaps after missing extended time in camp, notching three carries for 12 yards in a short opening stint.
Philadelphia Eagles 19, New York Jets 17
Philadelphia capped its preseason with a 19-17 win at MetLife Stadium, holding off a fourth-quarter push from New York’s backups. Both teams rested the bulk of their starters, with Jalen Hurts and Justin Fields among those in street clothes.
Jets rookie QB Adrian Martinez led two late touchdown drives to cut a 16-point deficit to two, but a missed two-point attempt and a turnover on downs ended the comeback. Undrafted WR Jamaal Pritchett contributed on offense and special teams, totaling 117 all-purpose yards.
Dallas Cowboys 31, Atlanta Falcons 13
Joe Milton accounted for two touchdowns and led scoring drives on Dallas’ first two possessions, helping the Cowboys notch a 31-13 win over Atlanta to wrap up the preseason. Both teams rested nearly all starters, with Milton playing the full first half in his most extended action since joining via trade.
Milton added a 29-yard touchdown strike in the third quarter after converting a fourth-and-1 with his legs, finishing 10-of-18 for 132 yards. Rookie RB Jaydon Blue also scored in his preseason debut. Falcons quarterback Easton Stick found Feleipe Franks for Atlanta’s lone touchdown in a game where Michael Penix Jr. and Kirk Cousins remained sidelined.
Tennessee Titans 23, Minnesota Vikings 13
Tennessee wrapped its preseason slate with a 23-13 win over Minnesota, as both teams leaned heavily on rookie quarterbacks. No. 1 overall pick Cam Ward played into the second quarter once again, finishing 10-of-19 for 145 yards to cap his exhibition workload. Ward led a 13-play, 90-yard scoring drive in the first half but remained without a preseason touchdown.
Minnesota opened with rookie Max Brosmer under center while J.J. McCarthy sat. Brosmer returned late in the second quarter and added a third-quarter touchdown toss to Bryson Nesbit, finishing 15-of-23 for 161 yards in his final push for a roster spot.
Chicago Bears 29, Kansas City Chiefs 27
Kansas City’s first-team offense put together three scoring drives in as many chances, but a late push from Chicago’s reserves flipped the result in a 29-27 Bears win to close the preseason. Patrick Mahomes threw for 143 yards and a touchdown on 13 attempts, while Isiah Pacheco and Rashee Rice added scores as the Chiefs opened up a 20-3 lead before resting their starters.
Caleb Williams responded with a touchdown drive late in the second quarter and finished 11-of-15 for 113 yards and a score. Tyson Bagent took over after halftime and went 20-of-28 for 212 yards and three touchdowns, including the game-winner with three seconds remaining.
Baltimore Ravens 30, Washington Commanders 3
A new preseason streak has begun.
The Washington Commanders snapped the Baltimore Ravens‘ run of 24 straight preseason wins from 2016 to 2023, and now the Ravens are building toward a new record after a 3-0 2025 preseason — capping it with a 30-3 victory over the very team that ended their historic stretch.
The veteran backups and budding young players took center stage. Third-year Ravens linebacker Trenton Simpson saw significant snaps as he fights to secure the linebacker spot next to Roquan Smith, and he delivered a couple of sacks — one on which he forced a fumble — and a tipped pass that led to an interception.
Undrafted rookie cornerback Keyon Martin took an interception to the house, and second-round edge defender Mike Green notched a quarterback pressure for the third straight preseason game.
The Commanders’ offense was stagnant without star Jayden Daniels at the helm. The defense got solid play out of veteran interior defender Sheldon Day, who finished with two run-defense stops on just 10 run-defense snaps.
Denver Broncos 28, New Orleans Saints 19
Denver opened with three scoring possessions behind rookie quarterback Bo Nix, who connected with Courtland Sutton for a touchdown and totaled 110 passing yards before exiting. The Broncos’ defense held late as New Orleans rotated through its quarterback competition.
Spencer Rattler started for the Saints and led a pair of field-goal drives before rookie Tyler Shough entered and added a rushing score on a designed keeper. Shough finished 12-of-20 for 102 yards, while Rattler went 5-of-8 for 43. Neither quarterback produced a big-time throw or turnover-worthy play, though Rattler narrowly graded higher on first review.
Cleveland Browns 19, Los Angeles Rams 17
While the Cleveland Browns‘ quarterback battle is settled, the team still wanted to get a long look at its top options in preseason Week 3.
Joe Flacco, Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders all handled several drives. And then, ironically enough, roster longshot Tyler Huntley led the team down the field for the game-winning field goal as time expired, securing a 19-17 victory over the Los Angeles Rams to close out the preseason.
Flacco finished a solid 9-of-10 for 71 yards and a touchdown, and Gabriel operated excellently in a two-minute drill to give the Browns a 16-7 lead at halftime. Sanders’ performance was less ideal. He took five sacks and completed three passes for only 14 yards.
On the Rams‘ side, quarterback Dresser Winn went the distance and the defense racked up six sacks.
Indianapolis Colts 41, Cincinnati Bengals 14
With starters sidelined, Indianapolis closed the preseason with a 41-14 win over Cincinnati behind a clean performance from third-string quarterback Riley Leonard. The rookie completed 15-of-20 passes for 189 yards, including a 59-yard touchdown to Laquon Treadwell just before halftime.
Desmond Ridder started for the Bengals but struggled through an 8-of-20 outing, tossing an interception returned for a score by Colts safety Daniel Scott. Ridder added a short rushing touchdown, but Cincinnati couldn’t recover after falling behind 10-0 early.
Houston Texans 26, Detroit Lions 7
Although it was the Houston Texans‘ day to shine, Detroit Lions rookie wide receiver Isaac TeSlaa just keeps making plays.
Detroit’s only points came via TeSlaa, who scored on a deep shot from Kyle Allen. He found the end zone three times across the team’s four preseason outings and hit 40-plus yards in three outings.
Texans rookie quarterback Graham Mertz made his case as the game’s most impressive first-year player, leading three straight scoring drives to build a 16-7 edge for Houston heading into halftime. The Texans closed out the game by a 26-7 scoreline.
It was by far Mertz’s best outing, as he had tossed three interceptions and logged just 29 passing yards on 16 completions heading into Saturday’s affair. The sixth-round pick finished the contest 14-of-16 passing for 145 yards and a touchdown.
Green Bay Packers 20, Seattle Seahawks 7
Green Bay forced four turnovers and recorded five sacks to close the preseason with a 20-7 win over Seattle. Malik Willis overcame an early interception to lead a touchdown drive capped by a scoring pass to Romeo Doubs, helping the Packers build a 10-0 lead with several starters seeing early snaps.
Seattle turned to rookie quarterback Jalen Milroe for the full game, with Sam Darnold and Drew Lock inactive. Milroe finished 13-of-24 for 148 yards and a touchdown but lost three fumbles under heavy pressure. Green Bay rested 19 players, including quarterback Jordan Love.
Miami Dolphins 14, Jacksonville Jaguars 6
The Dolphins closed out their preseason with a tune-up on both sides of the ball, defeating the Jaguars 14-6 in an intra-state clash.
Miami’s defense limited Jacksonville to only 190 total yards and no explosive passes. Second-year edge rusher Chop Robinson registered two pressures and a sack on only six pass-rushing snaps, while Bradley Chubb also notched a sack in his second taste of preseason action in his return from season-ending knee surgery.
Although Tua Tagovailoa and the Dolphins’ starting offense played just three series, the group scored a touchdown thanks to Malik Washington‘s efforts. Also encouraging was the performance of Miami’s starting offensive line, which did not surrender a pressure against the Jaguars’ backups.
Buffalo Bills 23, Tampa Bay Buccaneers 19
As the Bills seek to bolster their defense in 2025, they received encouraging contributions from potentially emerging players in their preseason finale, a 23-19 win over the Buccaneers.
Fourth-round pick Deone Walker continued his impressive August, amassing three pressures and a 33.3% pass-rush win rate on 12 pass-rushing snaps. Also, corner Dane Jackson permitted just two catches on his four targets, letting up seven yards and forcing an incompletion in the process.
Although this contest didn’t feature either Josh Allen or Baker Mayfield, the two sides combined for 616 total yards and 14 explosive plays. Tampa receiver Tez Johnson and Buffalo running back Frank Gore Jr. each secured a 15-plus-yard reception of their own as they fight for roster spots.
San Francisco 49ers 30, Los Angeles Chargers 23
The 49ers ended their 2025 preseason with a winning record thanks to a late-game surge, upending the Chargers 30-23.
With the score deadlocked at 16-16 in the fourth quarter, linebacker Curtis Robinson intercepted DJ Uiagalelei and returned the pick 32 yards for the go-ahead score. Then, after San Francisco’s defense forced a punt, Carter Bradley connected with Terique Owens for a 22-yard touchdown — which proved to be the difference-maker.
Even in defeat, the Chargers can feel optimistic about several depth pieces. Rookie tight end Oronde Gadsden II hauled in three of his four targets for 46 yards, picking up two first downs. Likewise, veteran receiver Jalen Reagor caught three passes for 33 yards, with one an explosive play. On top of that, rookie cornerback Nikko Reed forced an incompletion on his lone target, and undrafted linebacker Marlowe Wax generated two pressures on only five pass-rushing snaps.
Arizona Cardinals 20, Las Vegas Raiders 10
Clayton Tune accounted for 47 rushing yards and a touchdown pass as Arizona closed out the preseason with a 20-10 win over Las Vegas. The Raiders opened with several starters and struck first behind Geno Smith, who led a quick scoring drive capped by a 17-yard touchdown to Dont’e Thornton Jr.
Las Vegas rotated through Aidan O’Connell and rookie Cam Miller after Smith, but stalled offensively after the opening score. Arizona’s reserves responded with three scoring drives, while the Raiders’ defense tallied five sacks but couldn’t slow Tune’s mobility or finish drives.
