Die Saison 2025/26 der Daikin Handball-Bundesliga ist eröffnet. Im Auftakt-Spiel verlor die TSV Hannover-Burgdorf 26:29 (11:15) gegen den VfL Gummersbach.

7543 Zuschauer in der ZAG-Arena, unter ihnen auch Bundestrainer Alfred Gislason und Nationalmannschafts-Manager Benjamin Chatton im Mittelrang der Halle. Gislason beobachtet bei den Gastgebern seine Nationalspieler Renars Uscins, Justus Fischer, Joel Birlehm, Marian Michalczik und Lukas Stutzke.
Bei den Gummersbachern kann er nur die Startform von Julian Köster und Tom Kiesler begutachten, Miro Schluroff verpasst nach einer Knie-OP den Bundesliga-Start.
Das erste Tor der neuen Saison fällt nach 44 Sekunden, erzielt von Uscins. Die erste Parade der Saison liefert im Anschluss Birlehm ab, nach zwei Minuten führt Hannover-Burgdorf 3:0.
Eine frühe klare Sache verhindern die Gummersbacher jedoch, der ersatzgeschwächte Altmeister (nur elf Feldspieler im Kader) findet ins Spiel und geht beim 6:7 erstmals in Führung. Hannover-Burgdorf unterstützt das durch einen fast neunminütigen Torstau ohne eigenen Treffer. Zur Pause liegen die Gastgeber verdient 11:15 hinten.
[–>Nach Wiederanpfiff wird es ein Kurzfrist-Krimi. Hannover-Burgdorf kämpft sich auf zwei Tore Rückstand ran (17:19/40.), verpasst aber durch technische Fehler eine mögliche Krönung der Aufholjagd. Gummersbach wankt in manchen Momenten, fällt aber nicht und schnappt sich die zwei Zähler.
Kurios: Auch in der letzten Saison trafen die TSV Hannover-Burgdorf und der VfL Gummersbach am ersten Spieltag aufeinander. Und auch damals holten sich die Gummersbach die ersten zwei Saisonpunkte (28:32).
Für Hannover-Burgdorf geht es bereits am Sonntag (17 Uhr) weiter, diesmal in der Qualifikationsrunde zur European League. Gegner in der Swiss-Life-Hall in Hannover ist dann der HC Alkaloid aus Skopje (Nordmazedonien).
