V Karviné nejprve v říjnu nastoupí reprezentační jednadvacítka v utkání evropské kvalifikace proti Ázerbájdžánu a o měsíc později se na stejném místě představí národní A-tým. Městský stadion, který byl po rekonstrukci otevřen v roce 2016, pojme necelých pět tisíc diváků.
Se San Marinem se národní celek utká v přípravě poprvé, předchozích šest vzájemných duelů se vždy odehrálo v rámci kvalifikací. Český tým nad jednou z nejslabších evropských reprezentací pokaždé zvítězil a ještě neinkasoval. V minulém vzájemném souboji v říjnu 2017 národní mužstvo v Plzni vyhrálo 5:0.
Poslední zápas roku, jímž bude závěrečný duel skupiny kvalifikace mistrovství světa proti Gibraltaru, pak český tým odehraje na Hané.
„Mám radost, že Olomouc projevuje o zápasy reprezentace velký zájem, což je znát i na nadšeném týmu lidí, kteří s organizací utkání pomáhají. Reprezentace na Andrově stadionu zakončí rok už počtvrté za sebou, předchozí tři zápasy měly vždy vítěznou tečku,“ řekl předseda FAČR David Trunda. „Na loňský zápas proti Gruzii rád vzpomínám, protože diváci byli skvělí a v důležitém zápase nám pomohli k vítězství,“ dodal trenér národního týmu Ivan Hašek.
Jeho svěřenci v posledním utkání v červnu utrpěli debakl 1:5 v Chorvatsku a výrazně si zkomplikovali boj o přímý postup na světový šampionát. V tabulce jsou sice první, ale Chorvaté ztrácejí jen tři body a mají dva duely k dobru. Nejbližší zápas odehraje české mužstvo 5. září v Černé Hoře. Přímo na šampionát projdou jen vítězové skupin, celky na druhých místech bude čekat baráž.
