Tom Brady has once again turned the spotlight toward his personal life, using his latest newsletter to reflect on fatherhood while implicitly drawing a contrast between his parenting with former partners, Bridget Moynahan and Gisele Bundchen.
The 48-year-old NFL legend recently celebrated his eldest son Jack‘s 18th birthday, an occasion he described as a revealing moment in his journey as a parent alongside the first mother of his children.
Tom Hiddleston froze when Taylor Swift was mentioned in the middle of an interview
“As a parent, the home is the classroom and you are in pure teaching mode all the way up until your kids reach 13 or 14 years old,” Brady wrote. “That’s when their friend group starts to have a huge impact on the shape of their social personality and you begin to learn what kind of teacher you really are.
“A parent is perhaps the most formative person in the life of a child, and who a child chooses as their friends during that transitional period from middle school into high school is a very reliable indicator of what they took from all those little learning moments with their parents – for better and for worse.
“Going to Jack’s 18th birthday party over the weekend, it was really heartening and rewarding as a parent to see a room full of fifteen great kids with strong bonds and the right values.
“Nobody is perfect, everyone has room to grow and improve – this is especially true as parents – but seeing Jack with his friends felt like, ‘Hey, we got this one right!'”
While Brady did not explicitly mention Moynahan by name, the collective “we” clearly encompasses his co-parenting efforts with her, and observers have noted that the celebratory tone simultaneously casts a shadow over his prior commentary on parenting.
Last month, he stated that “being a great father is being a great example of doing what it takes to take care of your family,” referencing his commitment to football as a primary expression of fatherhood, without acknowledging Bundchen‘s role in raising their children.
That was particularly interesting considering the rumors that the Brazilian supermodel left the New England Patriots quarterback over his decision to prolong his football career, and it turns out Bundchen wasn’t pleased.
“Word from Gisele’s camp is that she’s furious,” a source told the National Enquirer. “And thinks he’s acting bitter and being a nuisance.
“Since they split, all she wanted was to do her thing privately – but now here’s Tom needlessly stoking the fire with these statements.”
Brady catches a break from NFL over FOX Sports and ownership role
Beyond his reflections on family, Brady continues to make headlines in his professional endeavors as the former seven-time Super Bowl champion and current Fox Sports analyst has recently benefited from a relaxation of league rules regarding his broadcasting role.
Under his 10-year, $375 million contract with Fox, Brady serves as the network’s top color commentator alongside play-by-play announcer Kevin Burkhardt, having called Super Bowl LIX from New Orleans during his first season.
Previously, he was barred from attending pregame production meetings with NFL coaches due to his minority ownership in the Las Vegas Raiders.
So, instead, information from these sessions was relayed to him by colleagues.
But now according to The Athletic, the NFL has now allowed Brady to participate directly in production meetings with coaches and teams moving forward, a move that simplifies his role as both a broadcaster and franchise owner.
He remains prohibited from attending team practices, but the partial easing of restrictions is expected to benefit Fox, given their substantial financial investment in him.
