Travis Kelce reportedly spent six to eight months secretly preparing to propose to Taylor Swift, as the Kansas City Chiefs‘ tight end popped the question to the popstar on Tuesday, August 26.
The footballer meticulously planned the moment to ensure every detail, including making sure his 35-year-old girlfriend’s custom diamond engagement ring, was perfect.

The prolonged preparation allowed jewelers sufficient time to craft the one-of-a-kind old mine brilliant-cut diamond by Kindred Lubeck of Artifex Fine Jewelry, and the elongated stone, set on an engraved yellow gold band, is estimated to be worth up to seven figures.
The planning for the ring “took a while” according to Page Six, buying him time to set everything else up as the three-time Super Bowl winner aimed to out-perform all romantic gestures before that evening.
It remains unclear if Swift influenced the design of her dream ring, insiders speculate that Kelce may have consulted her closest friends for input as reports say the NFL star had asked for her hand in marriage with the exquisite piece.

Following their recent engagement, Taylor and Travis are reportedly planning a private wedding rather than an extravagant public affair as the couple continue to dodge huge publicity stunts.
Sources exclusively told Page Six that the couple, who announced their engagement on Aug. 26, will wait at least six months before saying “I do,” primarily due to Kelce‘s commitments with the Kansas City Chiefs.
That would place the ceremony sometime around February 2026 and likely after the 8th of that month, which is the date of Super Bowl LX – a game Kelce and the Chiefs would like to appear in.
“It will be more casual than people think,” a source told Page Six, emphasizing that fans should not expect a royal-style ceremony as the couple appears to prioritize a personal celebration over a media spectacle.
It reflects their desire to focus on family, love, and close-knit connections, something that is especially true for Travis with the tight bond the tight end has with his parents and his brother, Jason.
Details about the location remain private, but it is likely the event will be held somewhere meaningful to the couple. The engagement itself took place at Kelce‘s Leawood, Kansas estate, surrounded by greenery and pink roses.
The pair, affectionately called “Traylor” by fans, began dating in the summer of 2023 and quickly became public with their relationship in September of that year. After nearly two years together, they now move toward marriage with careful planning.
But for now, Kelce will turn his eyes to a Week 1 clash with the Los Angeles Chargers in Brazil on Sunday, September 5 to open what could be his final season in the NFL.
