At a time when Tom Brady continues adjusting to life after football, his oldest son Jack is quietly stepping into adulthood and doing so with the same grace his parents often speak about.
On Wednesday evening, Jack was spotted courtside at the US Open in New York with his mother, actress Bridget Moynahan, in a rare public appearance that highlighted the strong bond the two share.
Moynahan, who co-parents the teenager with Brady, shared a selfie from their outing at Arthur Ashe Stadium, writing on Instagram: “Traditions at the US Open. Thank you Emirates for hosting an incredible night of tennis.”
The photo quickly drew attention, with many noting how much Jack, dressed in a navy polo and sporting a wide smile, resembled his father.
The tennis outing came just days after Jack celebrated his 18th birthday on August 22, a milestone that both his parents marked with heartfelt tributes.
Brady, who often reflects publicly on the challenges and joys of fatherhood, wrote on Instagram: “From little steps to big dreams, happy birthday Jack. You’ve always shown grace, courage, love, and kindness since the day you were born. I’m so proud of the man you are!
“Welcome to adulthood-it comes with higher credit card limits, bigger bills, and no curfew… well, maybe not all at once!”
He added: “A dad’s heart soars with his children’s happiness, not with his own. We love you so much, and I know this will be your best year yet.”
Moynahan has been more private in how she celebrates milestones with her son, rarely posting photos of him on social media.
But when she does, it often reflects the quieter side of their relationship, one rooted in traditions like the US Open or bonding over music.
Jack Brady was born in 2007, shortly after Brady and Moynahan ended their relationship. While the situation was challenging at the time, both have maintained a respectful co-parenting relationship over the years.
When Jack was born, Brady had already begun a relationship with Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bundchen, who later became a central figure in his son’s upbringing.
Brady and Bundchen married in 2009 and went on to have two children together, Benjamin, now 15, and Vivian, 12.
Their marriage ended in October 2022, but both remain active in raising their children. Bundchen has since moved on with her partner, Joaquim Valente, with whom she welcomed another child earlier this year.
Tom Brady’s role as a father
Since retiring from the NFL, Brady has often spoken about redefining his role as a father, particularly as his children grow older and pursue their own interests. Earlier this year, he shared photos of a father-son golf outing with Jack, proudly showcasing his swing.
Brady has also been candid about the pressures that come with being the son of one of the most recognizable athletes in history.
“To be a boy, it sucks to be Tom Brady‘s son, in so many ways,” he admitted during a public talk. “My kids naturally are gonna be faced with their own challenges, and they gotta figure out how to overcome them, too. And I’ll be there to support them a lot like my parents did.”
When Jack expressed an interest in basketball, Brady was quick to encourage him, even joking about his son’s vertical leap.
“Unfortunately he jumps as high as I do,” Brady said with a laugh. “But I tell him, ‘Dude, you’re gonna be a stud. Wait till you hit your growth spurt, you’re gonna be dunking.’ Whether he does or not, who cares? I just want him to know his dad’s got his back.”
Moynahan and Jack’s bond
For Moynahan, raising Jack has meant navigating life both as a Hollywood actress and as the mother of a child in a unique spotlight. Speaking last year, she mentioned how music has become a shared passion between them.
“I get to introduce the Red Hot Chili Peppers to my son, and he’s introducing me to new artists,” she said. “It’s nice that we can come together at different ages and bond over music.”
While Brady and Moynahan’s lives have taken very different paths since their breakup nearly two decades ago, both appear committed to supporting their son as he charts his own course.
Jack, who now towers over both of his parents, has shown interests beyond sports, but like his father, has a calm presence that seems to suit him well in the public eye.
As Jack Brady enters adulthood, he does so with the guidance of a close-knit family – one that may not look traditional, but has managed to prioritize love and support over anything else.
Whether he’s on the golf course with his father or watching tennis with his mother, Jack seems ready to write his own story while carrying forward the lessons instilled by both of his parents.
