Brazilský soud s tím souhlasil. Robinho vždy trval na své nevině a tvrdil, že k sexu se ženou došlo se vzájemným souhlasem. Své odsouzení připisuje také rasismu.
Robinho byl zázračným dítětem brazilského fotbalu, už v 18 letech ho ze Santosu koupil Real Madrid. V průběhu kariéry získal ligové tituly ve Španělsku (s Realem), Itálii (s AC Milán), Turecku (s Basaksehirem) a Číně (Kuang-čou Evergrande). Za brazilskou reprezentaci odehrál 100 zápasů a vyhrál s ní Copu América.
