Die Bundeswehr steigt beim Top-Klub der Handball-Bundesliga ein. Genauer: Im Fokus liegt das knapp 50 Kilometer entfernte Gefechtsübungszentrums Heer (GÜZ) in Gardelegen. „Wir stehen mit den Verantwortlichen bereits seit rund einem Jahr in einem sehr konstruktiven Austausch. Durch mehrere Informationsbesuche vor Ort haben wir uns ein Bild von der Bedeutung des Standortes für die Region machen können“, sagt SCM-Geschäftsführer Marc-Henrik Schmedt.

Unter den Soldaten und Zivilangestellten seien auch viele Fans des SC Magdeburg. Ziel der Vereinbarung ist die regionale Wahrnehmung für die Arbeitgebermarke Bundeswehr. Schmedt: „Die Bundeswehr ist in der Altmark nicht nur maßgeblicher Arbeitgeber, sondern stützt die Wirtschaft der strukturschwachen Region Altmark seit Jahrzehnten intensiv. Kern der Kooperation ist daher über die Personalgewinnung, die Festigung dieser für Magdeburg und das nördliche Sachsen-Anhalt wichtigen Strukturen.“

Weiter sagt er: „Die Bundeswehr ist weiterhin bereits bei anderen Handball-Bundesligisten regional aktiv und unterstützt Spitzenathleten anderer Sportarten, welche dadurch internationale Erfolge feiern können. Bestes Beispiel ist Olympiasieger und Schwimmweltmeister Lukas Märtens vom SCM, der als Unteroffizier bei Sportfördergruppe der Bundeswehr angestellt ist.“
