Micah Parsons confronted mixed emotions upon returning to Dallas as a Green Bay Packers linebacker after his dramatic falling out with Jerry Jones, the owner of the Cowboys organization.
While he maintained strong bonds with former teammates, the linebacker’s frustration the 82-year-old billionaire surfaced clearly following the high-scoring, overtime clash with his former team.
Micah Parsons avoids seeing Jerry Jones as he goes to Dallas with revenge
Before Sunday’s showdown, Parsons praised former teammate Dak Prescott and emphasized his respect for the players he left behind in Dallas as he returned to the AT&T Stadium on September 28.
And following the 40-40 tie, the second-highest scoring tie in NFL history, he exchanged jerseys with Trevon Diggs, describing the cornerback as “a brother for life.”
These gestures highlighted his continued appreciation for the teammates with whom he shared countless experiences on the field. In his eyes, the trade was not a persoanl slight against his ex-colleagues,.
However, Parsons‘ respect did not extend to the organization’s leadership. Addressing the emotions surrounding his first game back in Dallas, he called out Jones for the handling of his offseason departure.
“Honestly, I think all in all, the emotions for me being in Dallas went away the moment they traded me,” Parsons stated during the postgame press conference. “I didn’t even get to talk to my owner, the person who drafted me.
“I found out through my agent. To me, that emotion side was pointless because the same way he called me in his office as a man, he couldn’t tell me as a man.
“So to me, that emotion side was gone. It was more about a respect factor at this point.”
Parsons‘ offseason had been marked by tension, including a contract standoff and a trade request that culminated in his departure from the Cowboys, and his comments suggest that Jones did little to help.
While Jones has publicly refrained from making disparaging remarks about Parsons, the absence of a tribute video during the linebacker’s return could indicate lingering dissatisfaction on the owner’s part.
Regardless of public statements, Parsons made his perspective unmistakably clear, underscoring that respect and transparency were key issues in his relationship with the Cowboys‘ leadership.
