Apenas ha habido que esperar hasta la primera derrota de la temporada en Serie A en su visita al Milan en San Siro para despertar un terremoto en el seno del vestuario del Nápoles. Todo, a raíz de una triple sustitución por parte de Antonio Conte con 2-1 abajo en el marcador a falta de 20′ para el final del partido.
La decisión, desde luego, fue sorprendente. Y es que, entre los sacrificados, se encontraban Scott McTominay, Rasmus Hojlund… y un Kevin De Bruyne que, minutos antes, había recortado distancias desde los once metros tras el penalti de Estupiñán sobre Di Lorenzo que metió de lleno al Nápoles en el partido.
Lo cierto es que, más allá del gol, el impacto del belga en el partido estaba siendo mínimo. Conte lo acostó en banda izquierda durante muchos momentos del encuentro y, aunque regaló tres pases clave, incurrió en 19 pérdidas de balón y apenas ganó 3/6 duelos que disputó.
En la derrota ante el Manchester City en la primera jornada de Champions, De Bruyne fue el sacrificado por Conte tras la expulsión de Di Lorenzo y lo asumió con deportividad. “Fue lo único que podía hacer. Me sentí mal por el chico, al que le robamos la satisfacción de jugar contra su antiguo club. Pero también me robé a mí mismo la oportunidad de contar con él”. Sin embargo, cuando el belga vio que en el cartelón relucía su número ’11’ en el choque ante el Milan, se dirigió hacia el banquillo hecho una furia.
Tras el partido, lejos de morderse la lengua, Antonio Conte cambió su discurso y no dudó a la hora de echarle más leña al fuego mandando un mensaje contundente a Kevin De Bruyne. “Espero que no esté satisfecho con el resultado, porque si es con la sustitución es que eligió a la persona equivocada”, explicó el técnico italiano.
Recordemos que Kevin De Bruyne fue recibido en Nápoles como el mismísimo Diego Armando Maradona. “Es un jugador excepcional que ha sorprendido a todo el mundo. Ha venido aquí para demostrar ciertas cosas”, reconoció durante la pretemporada un Antonio Conte que, sin embargo, ha querido reivindicar que nadie está por encima suya.
