The New York Giants’ hard-fought victory over the Los Angeles Chargers this Sunday came at a steep price. While the Big Blue secured their first win of the season, they also lost rising star Malik Nabers to a devastating injury. But analyst Robert Griffin III believes he has the perfect solution: bring back Odell Beckham Jr.
Sunday’s game was pivotal for the Giants. Entering with an 0-3 record and growing concerns over veteran Russell Wilson’s arm, the team rolled the dice by starting rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart. The gamble paid off, with the Giants edging out a 21-18 win at MetLife Stadium. Still, the celebration was short-lived.
In the second quarter, Nabers leapt for a Dart pass and landed awkwardly out of bounds. He was carted off by the medical staff, visibly in pain. The following day, head coach Brian Daboll confirmed the worst: Nabers is out for the season.
RGIII’s bold proposal: Bring OBJ home
In response to the news, Griffin urged the Giants to seize the moment and reunite with one of their most electrifying former stars. “The New York Giants should sign Odell Beckham Jr. after Malik Nabers’ injury. Bring him home,” RGIII posted on X (formerly Twitter).
Beckham remains a fan favorite in New York. Drafted in the first round in 2014, he made an immediate impact, earning Offensive Rookie of the Year and three Pro Bowl selections.
After leaving the Giants in 2018, Beckham spent two and a half seasons with the Browns, helped the Rams win Super Bowl LVI in 2021, missed 2022 due to injury, signed with the Ravens in 2023, and played for the Dolphins in 2024. Now a free agent, Beckham is available-just as the Giants face a wide receiver crisis.
What’s next for the Giants without Nabers?
An MRI confirmed Nabers tore his ACL, and while no official recovery timeline has been announced, experts agree he won’t return this season.
His designated replacement is rookie Beaux Collins, who has yet to play a snap. Daboll also has Jalin Hyatt and Gunner Olszewski on the second team, but a veteran presence like Beckham could be exactly what Dart needs to build confidence and momentum.
Will the Giants make the move? Time will tell-but fans, and Dart himself, would likely welcome OBJ with open arms.
