Se ha esperado hasta el final, pero la decisión está tomado. El Valencia – Oviedo, que cerraba la jornada 7 de Primera división en Mestalla a las 21:00 horas de este lunes, ha sido suspendido. La alerta roja por fuerte temporal de lluvia decretada en Valencia ha sido el motivo por el cuel los organismos competentes han decidido aplazar el partido entre el club de Mestalla y el recién ascendido. Se da la circunstancia que el Oviedo ya estaba en Valencia, ya que se desplazó el domingo por la mañana antes de que fuera decretada la máxima alerta por temporal. De hecho, los jugadores del Valencia están citados esta tarde a las cinco para realizar una sesión de entrenamiento.

Tras lo sucedido hace once meses con la DANA, la provincia de Valencia se ha vuelto a poner en alerta por un episodio de lluvias torrenciales y temporal extremo que llevó a las autoridades a activar la alerta roja en varios municipios de la provincia entre ellos Valencia, la capital. El mismo domingo quedaron suspendidas todas las actividades al aire libre y se cerraron los colegios para la jornada del lunes. Tras varias consultas se ha decidido aplazar el partido de Liga que de momento no tiene fecha fija para disputarse, pero teniendo en cuenta que ninguno de los dos equipos tiene competición europea no habrá problema en el calendario para que pueda jugarse.
El Valencia ya mandó una alerta el mismo domingo para tener avisados a sus aficionados. Cerca del 50% de los hinchas que acuden a Mestalla lo hacen desde localidades cercanas a la ciudad y por tanto el club quiso avanzarse y advertir a los suyos del peligro de suspensión que corría el coche. Las autoridades decretaron el control en los desplazamientos y esto es clave ya que cerca de 25.000 personas llegan al estadio desde los pueblos y eso era un riesgo.
