Just when it seemed the drama between Micah Parsons and Jerry Jones had finally cooled, the Cowboys owner poured gasoline on the fire with a surprising revelation. Following Dallas’ 40-40 tie with the Green Bay Packers in Week 4, Jones explained why his team’s former defensive star never heard from him again.
The relationship between Jones and Parsons has been tense for months. While contract negotiations between the Cowboys and the All-Pro linebacker never were really smooth, his sudden trade to the Packers shocked fans and left lingering bad blood. The move blindsided Parsons, who has since accused Jones of failing to treat him with respect.
The Week 4 showdown between Dallas and Green Bay was billed as a grudge match – but Parsons kept the feud alive even after the final whistle. “He couldn’t tell me [about the trade] as a man,” Parsons complained. Jones, however, didn’t stay quiet.
Jerry Jones’ revelation
On his weekly radio show on 106.5 The Fan, Jones hit back by revealing the reason behind his silence. “I really don’t want to answer that at all, but that phone call thing got stopped when he told me to take his number off my dial. ‘Don’t call him anymore.’ So I quit those calls.”
To twist the knife, Jones went further – suggesting the Cowboys were the real winners of Sunday’s game despite the scoreboard.
“When you don’t have a player anymore, he’s lining up directly against you, plus you don’t have him on your defensive side of the ball, now that’s a really good test,” Jones said. “And I’m glad that everybody got to see it. It left me feeling good about our trade.”
The Cowboys no longer need Parsons
Despite defensive struggles, Jones insisted the Cowboys don’t miss Parsons. He pointed to both improving young talent and the return of injured players as reasons for optimism.
“I also get to have the benefit of looking at who’s coming,” Jones explained. “We’ve got [DeMarvion] Overshown coming. Frankly, [Donovan] Ezeiruaku is playing lights-out and getting better through the game. And [Jadeveon] Clowney has certainly had his opening game. So I see help on the way for this defense.”
