While the Philadelphia Eagles remain undefeated at 4-0 in the 2025 season, not all is smooth in the locker room, as their star wide receiver A.J. Brown has expressed frustration over his limited involvement in the offense.
Following the Eagles’ victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, Brown recorded just two catches for seven yards on nine targets. After the game, he posted a cryptic quote on social media:

“If you’re not welcomed, not listened to, quietly withdraw. Don’t make a scene. Shrug your shoulders and be on your way,” Brown wrote on Instagram.
The post immediately raised concerns about potential tension within the team and highlighted his dissatisfaction, reflecting a pattern of subtle public expressions of discontent often seen from elite receivers.
This isn’t the first time Brown has shown displeasure with his role in Philadelphia. Last season, he was famously photographed reading a book on the sidelines during a regular-season game, a move many interpreted as a passive sign of impatience.
Even though the Eagles ultimately went on to win the Super Bowl, Brown’s limited targets have remained an issue, and it now appears he’s reached a breaking point.
Through four games in 2025, Brown has logged 14 receptions on 28 targets for 151 yards and one touchdown. While those numbers show his capability when involved, they fall well short compared to other top-tier receivers across the league.
Comparisons with top NFL receivers reveal growing concerns
For example, the Los Angeles Rams’Puka Nacua had 13 catches in a single game against the Indianapolis Colts. Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, even at age 36, has racked up 182 yards on 15 receptions this season.
Meanwhile, Ja’Marr Chase of the Cincinnati Bengals, widely seen as the benchmark for elite wideouts, has 26 receptions on 35 targets for 264 yards. The contrast underscores Brown’s underuse.
Quarterback Jalen Hurts also struggled in the second half against Tampa Bay, going 0-for-8 after halftime.
The lack of offensive rhythm made Brown’s limited involvement even more glaring and raised questions about the Eagles’ passing scheme.

Elite receivers thrive on rhythm and volume. When a player like Brown is not utilized, it can not only affect team chemistry but potentially lead to trade rumors or on-field inefficiencies.
Head coach Nick Sirianni and the Philadelphia offensive staff must address this growing issue, especially with a high-stakes game against the Denver Broncos on Sunday, October 5.
Analysts believe the Eagles will look to “force-feed” Brown the ball early and often in Week 5, not only to secure another win but also to keep their star receiver engaged and motivated.
If not, speculation could intensify over a potential trade to a team like the Miami Dolphins, especially in light of Tyreek Hill’s recent injury.
