The Browns are preparing to face the Minnesota Vikings this Sunday in Week 5 of the NFL at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, England. It’s a matchup full of intrigue-not because of the quality of either team, as both come in with 1-3 records and more questions than answers, especially the Browns.
Shedeur Sanders looks hopeless as the Browns get blown out by the Lions
According to Tony Grossi of ESPN Cleveland, Joe Flacco’s time may be up after a poor performance against the Detroit Lions. Reports suggest the Browns’ offense could be handed over to rookie quarterback Dillon Gabriel, a third-round pick out of Oregon.
On Wednesday, during the first practice of the week, head coach Kevin Stefanski is expected to clarify the situation. For now, all signs point toward a quarterback change, with Gabriel taking over instead of Shedeur Sanders, despite fans wanting to see the former Colorado Buffaloes QB get his chance. Still, Gabriel’s performance will be under close scrutiny.
Shedeur Sanders was training on Tuesday, on his day off
On Tuesday-an official rest day for the team-Shedeur Sanders was spotted training at Baldwin Wallace University in Berea, Ohio, as shown in a post by ESPN Cleveland on X. While his teammates rested, Sanders kept working to improve his game and earn an opportunity.
If Stefanski confirms Gabriel as the starter, the next question is whether Sanders will move up to the backup role or remain the team’s third option. Given Stefanski’s past decisions, it seems more likely that Joe Flacco would remain the backup.
Meanwhile, another storyline could unfold: Robert Griffin III posted on X that while the Browns’ coaching staff may not favor Sanders, the locker room and team leaders do. That dynamic could create tension inside the locker room at any moment.
As for Flacco, his numbers don’t fully capture how poorly he has played this season: 815 passing yards, 2 touchdowns, and 6 interceptions. His level of play is unsustainable, and it appears his time with the Browns may be running out.
