The Cleveland Browns are making a big move just four games into the 2025 NFL season. After watching their offense struggle mightily with Joe Flacco under center, Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski has pulled the veteran for third round rookie Dillon Gabriel for their Week 5 game.

It’s a switch that many believed would come at some point during the season, although it came earlier than expected. What surprised many, though, was that Flacco was still listed as the No. 2 quarterback on the updated depth chart, ahead of Shedeur Sanders. It goes to show Stefanski and his coaching staff don’t trust Sanders yet. And now we know how Sanders feels about it.

Shedeur Sanders looks hopeless as the Browns get blown out by the Lions

Shedeur Sanders refuses to answer question about being third on Cleveland Browns depth chart

On Wednesday, Sanders was asked by reporter Ashly Holder in the Browns locker room what he thought about the updated depth chart, in which he remains third string. Sanders appears to mouth “I can’t speak”, followed by either “right now” or “about that”. Fans had some trouble deciphering his initial reaction, as well as his silent follow-up.

Sanders clearly didn’t want to give an actual soundbite, which means he’s probably quite upset about the decision. No one can really blame him, since all he wants to do is play football in real game action.

Some fans actually didn’t like the way he handled the situation, calling his actions “immature”. A normal vocal response may have better suited him, at least in the public eye.
