The new era of the Las Vegas Raiders hasn’t started the way many hoped. After opening the season with a victory in Week 1 against the New England Patriots, Pete Carroll’s team has suffered three consecutive losses, the latest a painful defeat against the Chicago Bears following a missed field goal.
Geno Smith and Maxx Crosby mock Seahawks fans with an obscene gesture
In this new era, the Raiders invested in bringing Geno Smith from the Seattle Seahawks, where he had some strong moments as a starter, especially in 2022 when he was even considered for the Pro Bowl. However, in this first quarter of the season, he has struggled significantly with the Raiders.
Geno Smith has thrown seven interceptions, and the pressure continues to mount for the Raiders’ quarterback, especially with next week’s visit to a 3-1 team, the Indianapolis Colts, led by Daniel Jones.
Geno Smith takes responsibility for his interceptions
It’s clear that Geno Smith is currently the main target of Raiders fans’ criticism, and he knows that the interceptions are his responsibility and no one else’s. “Yes, they all came out of my hand and ended up in the defense’s hands. Those are the things I’ve seen in common, and they are things we need to correct,” Smith said.
On the other hand, rookie Ashton Jeanty, from Boise State, had the best game of his young career, totaling 138 yards and one rushing touchdown, in addition to two passing scores against the Chicago Bears. Geno Smith knows how important it was for the team that Jeanty finally broke out offensively this season.
“Yes, we want to get Ashton involved any way we can. As you can see, and as we’ve said all along, he’s a very dynamic player. He keeps growing as the season goes on, and I think all of us as an offense are growing as well. But what he showed is exactly what we’ve always seen from him,” Smith explained.
Currently, the Raiders are at the bottom of the AFC West. With an upcoming game against the Colts-a team that isn’t even favored-the pressure will begin to mount, and this season could become a dead end for Pete Carroll’s team.
