There’s no doubt that one of the happiest players in the NFL right now is New York Giants rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart. Last Sunday, he made his first NFL start-and it came against the undefeated Los Angeles Chargers-securing his first victory in the impressive MetLife Stadium.
Jaxson Dart let his emotions go after leading the Giants over the Chargers
It was expected that Dart would start at some point during the season, but not as quickly as it happened. The situation arose in Week 3 when Russell Wilson struggled against the Kansas City Chiefs. In a year where head coach Brian Daboll is fighting to keep his job, there was no other choice but to start the first-round rookie.
Dart had a solid performance, throwing one touchdown pass and scoring another on the ground. However, the key to the game was the Giants’ defense, which intercepted Justin Herbert twice, despite Herbert coming into the game playing at a high level.
Dart will make his first NFL road trip against the New Orleans Saints
Although there were concerns that Dart had suffered a hamstring injury in the game against the Chargers, Giants fans can rest easy. The rookie quarterback practiced at 100% this Wednesday and is set to start on Sunday when New York visits New Orleans.
This game will be especially meaningful for Dart because, in the past NFL Draft, one of the teams in need of a quarterback was the Saints. With the 9th pick, they passed on the Ole Miss product, who ultimately was selected by the Giants with the 25th pick in a trade with the Houston Texans.
That’s why Dart sent a message ahead of Sunday’s game: “I think there’s always a chip on your shoulder anytime something like that happens… I’m just gonna go out there and play as hard as I can.”
The Saints selected Tyler Shough from Louisville in the second round with the 40th pick. However, the current starter in New Orleans is Spencer Rattler, who has yet to win in the NFL-10 starts, 10 losses-between 2024 and the current 2025 season.
