A tensão entre a Superliga Europeia e a Uefa voltou a crescer. Segundo o jornal espanhol Mundo Deportivo, os dirigentes da Superliga enviaram um ultimato formal ao órgão, exigindo mudanças significativas no formato da Champions League. O movimento é resultado de sete reuniões confidenciais realizadas entre as partes ao longo dos últimos oito meses. Nas quais foram discutidas alternativas para modernizar e tornar a competição mais atraente ao público global.
De acordo com a proposta apresentada, a Superliga sugere que as 18 primeiras equipes do ranking europeu disputem oito partidas entre si, garantindo confrontos de alto nível logo na fase inicial. Essa reformulação teria como objetivo aumentar a audiência e o engajamento. Uma vez que colocaria frente a frente os clubes mais tradicionais e poderosos do continente.
Novo formato e transmissão independente
A ideia da Superliga inclui também uma nova estrutura de transmissão. Com a criação de duas plataformas próprias: uma gratuita, com anúncios, e outra paga, no formato de streaming, sem interrupções. Embora o conteúdo fosse gerido pela Superliga, a proposta prevê uma parceria direta com a Uefa. O que representaria uma divisão inédita de direitos de mídia e receita entre as entidades.
A Champions League, no entanto, manteria o número atual de 36 clubes na primeira fase. A grande mudança estaria na forma de agrupamento: as equipes seriam divididas em dois blocos, de 1º a 18º e de 19º a 36º. Os clubes enfrentariam apenas adversários dentro de seus respectivos grupos. Assim, os duelos entre gigantes seriam mais frequentes, e os times considerados de “segundo escalão” teriam suas próprias disputas equilibradas e competitivas.
Sistema de classificação e playoffs
No modelo sugerido, os oito melhores colocados do grupo principal (1º ao 18º) avançariam diretamente para as oitavas de final. Já as equipes entre o 9º e o 16º lugar jogariam uma fase de playoffs, enfrentando os clubes mais bem classificados do grupo inferior (19º ao 36º). Dessa forma, times de menor expressão teriam a chance de eliminar potências e alcançar as fases decisivas. Algo que a Superliga considera essencial para preservar o espírito competitivo e democrático da Champions League.
Outra novidade seria a introdução de duas equipes adicionais via ranking. Essas entrariam na disputa dos mata-matas, aumentando ainda mais a quantidade de partidas e a emoção da competição. A Superliga argumenta que isso elevaria o nível técnico das fases iniciais e traria uma nova dinâmica de meritocracia. Premiando tanto o desempenho quanto o ranking histórico dos clubes.
Superliga tenta reaproximação com a Uefa
Apesar do histórico de atritos entre as entidades, fontes próximas afirmam que o relacionamento entre a Superliga e o presidente da Uefa, Aleksander Ceferin, melhorou consideravelmente. As conversas recentes, realizadas de forma reservada, indicam uma tentativa de reaproximação estratégica. A Superliga agora busca um caminho de cooperação institucional em vez de confronto. O grupo que surgiu como um projeto de ruptura em 2021, liderado por clubes como Real Madrid, Barcelona e Juventus.
O documento oficial da proposta já chegou à sede da Uefa, em Nyon, na Suíça, e deve ser analisado nas próximas semanas. Caso a entidade aceite discutir o modelo, um comitê conjunto poderá ser formado para avaliar os impactos esportivos, financeiros e regulatórios.
