McLaren v poháru konstruktérů už nikdo nepřekoná, ale teoretická šance tu ještě je. Britská stáj ovšem vede o 333 bodů nad druhým Mercedesem a ve hře už jich je jen o deset víc. Dá se tedy očekávat, že po dnešku už ve Wokingu budou probíhat oslavy.
Daleko zajímavější je situace v rámci samotných jezdců. Piastri v tuto chvíli vede o 25 bodů nad týmovým kolegou Norrisem a o 69 bodů nad čtyřnásobným šampionem Verstappenem z Red Bullu. Jenže byl to právě Nizozemec, kdo vyhrál poslední dva závody v Ázerbájdžánu a Monze.
Sobotní kvalifikaci v Singapuru ale získal působivým způsobem Russell, který se svým Mercedesem nadělil Verstappenovi téměř dvě desetiny. Nepříjemnou kvalifikaci naopak prožili piloti Williamsu Albon se Sainzem. Ti sice dojeli na dvanáctém a třináctém místě, ale jejich zadní křídla neprošla technickou kontrolou a odstartují tak z posledních dvou míst.
