V červnu Chorvaté doma přejeli český národním tým jasně 5:1 a udělali velký krok k přímému postupu na šampionát. „Teď nás čeká nesmírně důležitý zápas, který rozhodne o výsledku skupiny. Doma to bylo dobré, ale teď musíme makat ještě o něco víc,“ zdůraznil Dalič.
Nemůže se ale spolehnout například na defenzivního univerzála z Bayernu Mnichov Josipa Stanisiče. „Ohledně jeho zranění jsme byli optimističtí, ale nakonec měl příliš málo času na zotavení a nedostal se do formy. Zůstává v klubu,“ nastínil Dalič s tím, že z náhradníků byl povolán Domagoj Bradarič působící v italské Veroně. A nevyloučil, že ještě sáhne k dalšímu doplnění nominace.
Ze hry je rovněž zkušený krajní obránce Josip Juranovič z Unionu Berlín. Jeho místo by tak znovu mohl zaujmout Kristijan Jakič z Augsburgu.
„Máme na tomto postu problém. Juranovič od návratu z minulého srazu neodehrál v klubu ani minutu, nedokázal se plně uzdravit. Očekávali jsme, že bude fit, ale nestalo se. Jakič zůstává alternativou, ale uvědomujeme si, že pravý bek není jeho hlavní pozice,“ pravil hlavní kouč.
Aby toho nebylo málo, bez minutáže je po návratu po zranění i záložník Manchesteru City Mateo Kovačič. „Očekával, že v posledních třech zápasech dostane nějaký prostor, ale byly to těžké duely. Je však v plném tréninku. Potřebuje energii národního týmu a my jeho služby. Není jisté, zda nastoupí proti Česku, ale následně s Gibraltarem určitě,“ nastínil Dalič.
Možná nejvíce ho ale trápí post gólmana. Jednička Dominik Livakovič ve španělské Gironě vůbec nechytá, tlačí na něj například Dominik Kotarski z Kodaně.
„U Livakoviče máme obavy, není to dobrá situace a nic, co nás těší. Ale znáte můj postoj a mé myšlení směrem k hráčům, kteří jsou v reprezentaci už mnoho let. Nejsem nakloněn změnám, takže uvidíme,“ uvedl Dalič.
Zkušený 58letý kouč, který dovedl Chorvatsko ke stříbru na MS 2018 i bronzu o čtyři roky později, si ve čtvrtek v Edenu (20:45) připíše jubilejní stý zápas na lavičce národního týmu. Začalo to 9. října 2017, stovku Dalič symbolicky uzavře 9. října 2025.
Věří, že speciální střetnutí bude vítězné.

„Pro Česko to bude klíčový zápas, navíc hraje doma. Očekáváme od něj agresivitu, intenzivní presink a houževnatost. Bude jim hodně chybět Patrik Schick, což je pro nás trochu úleva, ale nesmíme se dostat do situace, kdy si budeme myslet, že díky jeho nepřítomnosti to bude snadné,“ varoval Dalič.
Jen připomeňme, že Češi a Chorvaté mají shodně 12 bodů, parta kolem kapitána Luky Modriče má však o zápas méně. Faerské ostrovy a Černá Hora posbíraly bodů šest a Gibraltar je poslední s nulou. Přímo na MS 2026 v USA, Kanadě a Mexiku postupuje pouze vítěz skupiny.
