Whenever a college football slate looks light on paper, that’s when the most chaos happens. And chaos sure did ensue, as three top-15 teams fell to unranked opponents, with two of those teams (Penn State and Texas) coming from the top 10.
Here’s how the PFF top 25 looks heading into Week 7. Please note that these are not the same as the PFF power rankings.
1. Miami (FL) Hurricanes (5-0, Previous: 3rd)
Week 7 Matchup: Bye
Miami is back on top following a 28-22 win on the road over No. 18 Florida State this past weekend. Edge defender Rueben Bain Jr. continued to look like the best player in college football with a 90.9 overall PFF grade in the victory, adding 11 pressures. His 95.9 grade on the season is the best of any player in college football.
2. Ohio State Buckeyes (5-0, Previous: 1st)
Week 7 Matchup: at No. 17 Illinois Fighting Illini
Ohio State took care of business with a 42-3 win over Minnesota this week. The Buckeyes have now only allowed 25 points all season over five games, the fewest in the country. On the other side, redshirt freshman quarterback Julian Sayin continued to thrive with a 91.7 PFF passing grade. The Buckeyes have their most difficult road test of the season this upcoming week against No. 17 Illinois.
3. Texas A&M Aggies (5-0, Previous: 5th)
Week 7 Matchup: vs. Florida Gators
Texas A&M padded its resume with an impressive 31-9 win over Mississippi State. The Aggies ran all over the Bulldogs to the tune of 304 rushing yards and 3.9 yards before contact per attempt. Texas A&M takes on Florida next, a team that just beat ninth-ranked Texas.
4. Oregon Ducks (5-0, Previous: 2nd)
Week 7 Matchup: vs. No. 7 Indiana Hoosiers
Oregon was off this past weekend and has a massive game in Week 7 against seventh-ranked Indiana.
5. Ole Miss Rebels (5-0, Previous: 4th)
Week 7 Matchup: vs. Washington State Cougars
Ole Miss was off this past weekend and is back in action this week against Washington State.
6. Alabama Crimson Tide (4-1, Previous: 8th)
Week 7 Matchup: at No. 14 Missouri Tigers
Alabama moves up a couple spots following its 30-14 win over No. 16 Vanderbilt. Ty Simpson was phenomenal in the victory, posting a 91.4 PFF passing grade. The Crimson Tide will need their Heisman candidate quarterback to perform like that this week as they go on the road to a top-15 team in Missouri.
7. Oklahoma Sooners (5-0, Previous: 6th)
Week 7 Matchup: vs. Texas Longhorns
Even without star quarterback John Mateer, Oklahoma was still able to shut out Kent State by a 44-0 final score. Edge defender R Mason Thomas showed why he’s a potential Day 2 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft with a 94.3 overall PFF grade in the win. He has a chance for another massive game against a shaky Texas offensive line in the Red River Rivalry.
8. Texas Tech Red Raiders (5-0, Previous: 13th)
Week 7 Matchup: vs. Kansas Jayhawks
Texas Tech dominated previously unbeaten Houston this past weekend, winning 35-11. The Red Raiders dominated on defense in the win with 80.0-plus grades in run-defense, pass rush and coverage. They now boast the highest-graded defense in the country (94.9) this season and face a Kansas offense that’s one of the 15 highest-graded in the country.
9. Indiana Hoosiers (5-0, Previous: 7th)
Week 7 Matchup: at No. 3 Oregon Ducks
Indiana was off in Week 6 and now faces its toughest test of the season with a road game against third-ranked Oregon.
10. Georgia Bulldogs (4-1, Previous: 9th)
Week 7 Matchup: at Auburn Tigers
Georgia responded well to its loss against Alabama with a 35-14 win over Kentucky. The Bulldogs’ defense dominated in the victory, allowing just -0.194 EPA per play. Georgia travels to Auburn next week, a team that is coming off back-to-back one-score losses to a couple of current top-10 teams in Texas A&M and Oklahoma.
11. LSU Tigers (4-1, Previous: 10th)
12. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (5-0, Previous: 17th)
13. Tennessee Volunteers (4-1, Previous: 16th)
14. Missouri Tigers (5-0, Previous: 18th)
