Národní tým spadal do čtvrtého koše, ve kterém byl společně s Tureckem (jedním z pořadatelů kvalifikace), Koreou a Itálií, a tak už před samotným losem bylo jasné, kterým týmům se Češky vyhnou.
Los začal krátce po devatenácté hodině určením skupin pro pořádající země kvalifikace. Slavnostního losování se ujala francouzská basketbalistka Endy Miyemová, která chvílemi dost bojovala s otevíráním míčků. Nakonec ale všechny týmy vylosovala a určila tak kvalifikační skupiny v boji o světový šampionát.
Miyemová vylosovala Česko hned jako první tým ve čtvrtém koši, a tak bylo jasné, že národní tým na březnové kvalifikační okno poputuje do čínského Wu-chanu. V té chvíli byly ve skupině ještě Brazilky a úřadující mistryně Evropy z Belgie, které si ale díky triumfu na evropském šampionátu zajistily přímý postup na MS.
O další tři postupová místa tak budou svěřenkyně Romany Ptáčkové bojovat s neevropskými týmy. Kromě Brazílie a domácí Číny jim los přisoudil ještě Mali a Jižní Súdán. Reálné šance na postup na zářijové mistrovství světa tak české hráčky rozhodně mají.
Náročnými soupeřkami pro české reprezentantky budou určitě Brazilky, které na mistrovství Jižní Ameriky skončily druhé. Číňanky na šampionátu Asie obsadily třetí místo. Hratelnými soupeřkami budou pro mladý český tým spíše africké celky, na kontinentálním šampionátu skončilo Mali druhé a Jižní Súdán bral třetí místo.
Zajímavá a náročná skupina se odehraje v San Juanu v Portoriku. Jistý postup na světový šampionát mají díky vítězství kontinentálního mistrovství USA, ale o další tři postupové příčky se porvou basketbalistky Nového Zélandu, Portorika, Itálie, Španělska a Senegalu.
Jistou letenku do německého Berlína už mají i basketbalistky Austrálie, které kvalifikační okno odehrají v tureckém Istanbulu. Z něj se na MS probojují další tři celky. O pouze dvě postupová místa se bude bojovat ve francouzském Lyonu, protože z této šestičlenné skupiny mají jistotu startu na světovém šampionátu hráčky Nigérie a pořadatelská země Německo.
