Any NFL fans hoping to see Taylor Swift take the stage for the Super Bowl halftime show will have to wait a little longer. Swift addressed some of the rumors out there about the Super Bowl 2026 halftime show. In the process, the singer/songwriter essentially confirmed she won’t perform at the event while her fiancé — Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce — is still an active player.
Swift made those comments during an appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.” Swift explained she’s had informal discussions with Jay-Z’s team about the Super Bowl, but wouldn’t feel right doing it during Kelce’s playing career.

Swift said she’s extremely focused on Kelce’s performance when he’s playing and pointed out the absurdity of Kelce getting ready to play in a high-pressure situation while Swift worries about her choreography for the halftime show.
“The whole season, I am locked in on what [Kelce] is doing on the field. Can you imagine if he’s out there every single week putting his life on the line doing this very dangerous, very high pressure, high-intensity sport and I’m like, ‘I wonder what my choreo should be?'”
Swift added Kelce is fully supportive of his fiancée performing at the Super Bowl, but Swift said she’s simply “too locked in” on football to take that on right now.
With Swift out of the picture, the NFL tabbed Bad Bunny as the Super Bowl LX halftime show performer.
At 36, it’s unclear how much longer Kelce wants to continue his career. Despite his age, he remains an effective player and is still one of Patrick Mahomes’ favorite targets. Kelce has been somewhat evasive about retirement questions heading into the season. While he hasn’t pinned down an exact date yet, Kelce’s career is coming to a close relatively soon.

That could open the door for Swift to take on the Super Bowl halftime show in the near future. Given the passionate fandom surrounding Swift — and her immense popularity — the NFL would almost be guaranteed to smash viewership records if she decided to play at the event.
