Com isso, o Vasco deixa de ser o clube entre os doze grandes que há mais tempo não marcava pela Seleção. Agora, o São Paulo passa a ocupar esse posto. O último jogador são-paulino a fazer gol com a camisa verde e amarela foi Lucas Moura, em 2012, no amistoso contra o Iraque.
