Have the Giants finally found their star in Jung Hoo Lee?

Rowan Kavner MLB Writer <!--> For years, the San Francisco Giants took mighty swings in pursuit of a superstar slugger to build around. And they whiffed. They fell short in the Bryce Harper sweepstakes in February 2019, failed to lure Northern California native and Yankees captain Aaron Judge back to the Bay Area in December 2022, then finally got their guy that winter in Carlos Correa only to balk on the agreement after a failed physical. A year after that, they came up empty again in their pursuit of Shohei Ohtani. If the first month of the 2025 season is any indication, maybe the winds of change are upon us. ADVERTISEMENT -->Maybe, the "Grandson of the Wind" could provide the solution. Unable to land the slugging centerpiece they coveted a year ago, the Giants took a gamble on a player with a different type of […]

Last Night in Baseball: Salvador Perez’s 4 doubleheader doubles

<!--> There is always baseball happening — almost too much baseball for one person to handle themselves. That's why we're here to help, though, by sifting through the previous days' games, and figuring out what you missed, but shouldn't have. Here are all the best moments from last night in Major League Baseball:Perez collects 5 hits, 4 doublesWhat a day for Salvador Perez. Sure, it was two games in one day, but five hits, four RBI, and four doubles — with Perez as the Royals’ catcher for one of those two games — is a fine day’s work whether over nine innings or 18. Especially since his Royals won both games of that doubleheader.ADVERTISEMENT -->That third double was nearly a home run, too — just another few inches higher, and it clears the wall. Ah, well, four doubles from someone who […]

MLB roundtable: Is it time to worry about Roki Sasaki?

<!--> It might be too soon in the 2025 MLB campaign to make any harsh judgments on any one team or player, but it wouldn't be fair to ignore the early-season trends, either. In this week's roundtable, FOX Sports MLB reporters Rowan Kavner and Deesha Thosar take a look at the head-turners — for better or for worse — in the league.[RELATED: 2025 MLB power rankings]The Pirates were swept over the weekend, sit in last place in the NL Central, and have an expected record as poor as their actual one. It's early, but they also rank just 25th in attendance, and play like this won't improve that. Is it time for a top-to-bottom regime change in Pittsburgh, or is something less drastic in order?ADVERTISEMENT -->Kavner: If the last decade of ineptitude — and the possibilities ahead with Paul Skenes headlining […]

Former Phillies star Ryan Howard pitches Negro Leagues Baseball Museum expansion

<!--> Ryan Howard was a rookie with the Philadelphia Phillies just putting baseball on notice with his moonshot home runs when he met Buck O’Neil, a champion of Black ballplayers during a monumental, eight-decade career on and off the field.Howard was introduced to O’Neil as a modern-day Josh Gibson, one of the Negro Leagues greatest players who hit .466 for the 1943 Homestead Grays. Howard, who hit at least 45 homers four times in his career, was too embarrassed to accept the comparison."Mr. O’Neil was like, "Do you got that power?′ I said, ‘Yes sir, I do,’" Howard said. "He told me, ‘Don’t be ashamed of it. Let it out.’ It was great, just hearing the stories from and just being in his presence."O’Neil, who died in 2006, was long a champion of the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum in Kansas […]

Last Night in Baseball: Oneil Cruz launched a baseball into orbit

<!--> There is always baseball happening — almost too much baseball for one person to handle themselves. That's why we're here to help, though, by sifting through the previous days' games, and figuring out what you missed, but shouldn't have. Here are all the best moments from last night in Major League Baseball:Cruz's awe-worthy moonshotYou know a visiting team's home run is impressive when, in an April game, the home crowd is oohing and aahing in response. Oneil Cruz absolutely demolished this pitch from right-hander Jack Kochanowicz, sending it to deep center, 463 feet away, over pretty much everything.ADVERTISEMENT -->The sound it makes, the way it carries, the way the crowd is immediately awestruck instead of groaning at another run being put on the board, how Kochanowicz knows it's gone and shows as much with his body language even before he […]

Bryce Harper enlisted Trea Turner for successful gender reveal

<!--> Bryce Harper's very public gender reveal for his fourth child had more moving parts than you might have initially imagined. You see, the reveal – which was staged on April 14, in Philadelphia in front of a home Phillies' crowd – was also a surprise for Harper himself.
