Aaron Rodgers’ departure from the New York Jets has been described as anything but smooth, with new details from his close friend and former teammate, Davante Adams, shedding light on the quarterback’s frustrations. Adams, now with the Los Angeles Rams, recently spoke to The Athletic about Rodgers’ final meeting with Jets management, calling the experience “shocking” and “disrespectful.”
The drama began in early February when Rodgers flew across the country to meet with Jets officials, including head coach Aaron Glenn and general manager Darren Mougey. According to Adams, Rodgers had planned to return to Las Vegas for another round of golf after the meeting but canceled due to his frustration.

“He was just in such a bad mood (after the meeting) that he hit me up and was like, ‘I’m not coming back, bro. This was horrible; they just disrespected me completely,'” Adams recalled. Rodgers later elaborated on the meeting during an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, describing it as brief and dismissive.
It was not exactly what he expected
He claimed the Jets informed him within minutes that they were “going in a different direction” at quarterback, a decision Rodgers felt could have been communicated over the phone. “I flew across the country, and 20 seconds in, they tell me this? It was shocking,” Rodgers said. Adams admitted he initially thought Rodgers was exaggerating but quickly realized the severity of the situation.
“I didn’t think anybody had the balls to, for lack of better words, to hit him with it like that,” Adams said. The fallout from the meeting led both Rodgers and Adams to part ways with the Jets, with Adams signing a two-year, $46 million deal with the Rams in March. As for Rodgers, the 41-year-old quarterback remains unsigned, with speculation swirling about his next move.
Adams believes Rodgers is looking for a team that will “roll out the red carpet” for him, emphasizing the quarterback’s desire to feel valued and respected. While the Pittsburgh Steelers have shown interest, Rodgers has yet to make a decision, citing personal matters and a lack of proper courting by potential suitors.
The saga highlights the complexities of professional sports, where even future Hall of Famers like Rodgers can face challenges in finding the right fit. As the NFL Draft approaches, all eyes remain on Rodgers and the next chapter of his storied career.

The Cleveland Browns trimmed their quarterback room to four active players following the release of Tyler Huntley, according to Adam Schefter. Cleveland "has been planning to keep its other four" quarterbacks. This comes after Huntley led the Browns on a game-winning drive during the preseason finale against the Los Angeles Rams after substituting into the game with in place of Shedeur Sanders.Huntley signed with the Browns at the start of preseason following Kenny Pickett's hamstring injury to ensure Cleveland had enough quarterback options.
