It’s no secret that the player to watch next NCAA season is Arch Manning of the Texas Longhorns. Many may think it’s because he’s related to Peyton and Eli Manning-who together won four Super Bowls and are undoubtedly historic players both in college and in the NFL-but the truth is, he’s a highly talented player in his own right.
Manning has spent two years on the bench for the Longhorns, both times behind Quinn Ewers, who was recently drafted by the Miami Dolphins. Arch has had few opportunities so far. Last year, when Ewers got injured, Manning started two games and showed off his immense talent.
The villain! Tom Brady’s still holding a grudge against Eli Manning
Although Steve Sarkisian, head coach of the Longhorns, has not made it official, there’s no doubt that Arch Manning will be Texas’ starting quarterback. His journey will begin with a major test: facing the reigning champions, Ohio State, in the first regular-season game of the 2025 NCAA season.
Arch Manning is the favorite to be the first pick in the next NFL Draft
The NFL is already eager to have Arch Manning, but the Longhorns quarterback may have other plans. His uncles, Peyton and Eli Manning, had long college careers at Tennessee and Ole Miss, respectively, so Arch may choose to follow in their footsteps and spend more time at Texas.
However, betting houses currently list Arch Manning as the favorite to be selected first overall in 2026, with odds of +200. This means that a $100 bet would yield $200 in profit plus the original amount wagered.
If he is indeed the first overall pick, Arch would continue the legacy of his uncles. Peyton was the first overall pick in 1998 by the Indianapolis Colts, and Eli was the first pick in 2004 by the San Diego Chargers, though he forced a trade to the New York Giants.
The next favorite to go first overall in the 2026 NFL Draft is Penn State quarterback Drew Allar, currently with +250 odds. At one point, Allar was considered a potential candidate for the previous draft, but he decided to return for another NCAA season.
So, if both Arch Manning and Drew Allar declare for the NFL next year, they could very well be the first and second overall picks.
