Jerry Jones’ latest star puts the Cowboys locker room chemistry at risk

The Cowboys didn’t just make a move – they lit a fuse. Dallas is trading for wide receiver George Pickens, the electric, elusive, and occasionally erratic pass-catcher from the Pittsburgh Steelers. It’s a move that screams high-risk, high-reward – and one that’s raising more eyebrows than applause across the league.

Pickens can ball. There’s no question about that. He’s got the kind of raw ability teams dream about: speed, hands, and highlight-making instincts. But in Pittsburgh, the problems weren’t about drops or routes – they were about behavior.

Real talk! Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer imitates his daughter’s boyfriend in awkward moment

Mike Tomlin, one of the NFL’s most respected coaches, tried everything. After a sideline meltdown following a Bengals game last season, Tomlin said, “He’s got to grow up… and fast.” That quote came after multiple unsportsmanlike conduct fines, shouting matches with fans, and even teammates pulling him back during games. The Steelers’ patience eventually wore thin.

Can CeeDee Lamb keep the peace? Cowboys’ star receiver might be Dallas’ best hope for locker room stability

Analyzing NFL Strength of Schedule

The Cowboys are betting their culture can succeed where Pittsburgh’s failed. That’s a tough bet.

According to NFL Network, Dallas sent a third-round pick for Pickens – a steep discount for a receiver of his talent, but one that reflects the baggage he carries. Former Pro Bowler Chad Johnson claimed back in February he’d personally spoken with Pickens and believed his days of drama were over. “That window of opportunity shrinks real fast,” Johnson warned him. Maybe Pickens listened. Maybe not.

The locker room dynamic in Dallas now becomes a storyline of its own. Pickens enters a space led by CeeDee Lamb – a model pro and the team’s emotional anchor. If anyone can keep Pickens focused, it’s Lamb. But that’s assuming Pickens wants to listen.

The Cowboys needed juice after a quiet offseason and a year that ended flat. They got juice – and maybe some jet fuel, too. Whether that leads to liftoff or combustion is a question that’ll play out every Sunday this fall.

Steph Curry doesn’t have target return date for ‘tricky’ hamstring injury

MINNEAPOLIS — Steph Curry attended the Warriors’ morning shootaround in Minnesota on Thursday. He rebounded for Brandin Podziemski and helped guide Buddy Hield through a shooting routine. He’s around — but probably more to lift his own spirits than his team’s.It’s clear Curry is still wrestling with the depressing nature of his latest injury, jeopardizing one of his final, and maybe best, chances at a fifth NBA title. Two months after his 37th birthday, he is dealing with a hamstring issue for the first time in his life.Advertisement“I know how tricky hamstring injuries can be,” Curry said. “They can fool you and make you think it’s healed (when it’s not) if you don’t feel anything. That gray area will be confusing, I’m sure. But I’ll do everything in my power to get back.”Curry is working closely with Rick Celebrini, the […]

Warriors’ Pat Spencer shouldn’t be in this NBA spotlight. He never let that stop him

Pat Spencer is here because of his grandfather. He’s on the Golden State Warriors, hoopin’ in the 2025 playoffs, because George Robey was his best friend. They called him Pop. Spencer was a kid when they’d hang out in the basement. Playing ping-pong. Playing pool. Going through his Pop’s boxes of baseball cards. He collected not for trading, but for history, as each card had a story — many from his own baseball career, which peaked in the New York Yankees minor-league system in the late 1950s and early ’60s. Spencer heard them all.Advertisement“I cherish those memories with him,” Spencer said. “He’d be like, ‘I pitched against that guy.
