Die Formel E rast auf die Halbzeit zu!
Im Dezember ist die elektrische Rennserie im brasilianischen São Paulo in ihre 11. Saison gestartet. Zuletzt gingen auf der historischen Strecke in Monaco Runde 6 und 7 über die Bühne – noch neun Rennen in fünf Städten stehen auf dem Programm, darunter ein „Double-Header“ in Berlin und das Finale in London. Am Wochenende ist die Formel E zu Gast in Tokio.
Das ist das SPORT BILD-Zwischenfazit!
Größte Überraschung: Für McLaren-Youngster Taylor Barnard (20) ist es die erste Vollzeitsaison am Formel-E-Steuer – und schon jetzt überrascht der junge Brite alle! Dreimal stand Barnard bereits auf dem Podest (Platz 3 in São Paulo, Platz 2 und 3 beim Rennwochenende in Jeddah) zweimal holte er sich die Pole-Position (Jeddah und Monaco). Damit schafft der Rookie Historisches: Er ist nun jüngster Fahrer auf einer Pole-Position und jüngster Podestfahrer in der Formel-E-Geschichte. Aktuell liegt Barnard in der Gesamtwertung auf Platz 4.
[–>Größter Fan: Carmen Geiss (60) sagt in der Reality-Soap „Davina & Shania – We Love Monaco“ über den Deutschen DS-Penske-Fahrer Maximilian Günther (27): „Ich finde den Max sehr hübsch, und er hat auch ein gutes Benehmen – alles, was man sich als Schwiegermutter so wünscht.“ Die Geissens kennen Günther aus ihrer Wahlheimat Monaco. SPORT BILD traf den Rennfahrer beim Monaco-Kracher. Er sagt: „Ich kenne die Familie sehr gut. Wir treffen uns immer wieder zum deutschen Stammtisch, auch mit anderen Sportlern und haben viel Spaß zusammen. Ich habe eine Freundin, aber das Kompliment schmeichelt mir natürlich trotzdem sehr.“
Größter Schock-Moment: Titelverteidiger Pascal Wehrlein (30) gerät beim Saisonstart in der 30. Runde mit Jaguar-Pilot Nick Cassidy aneinander und überschlägt sich! Wehrleins Porsche kracht gegen den Fangzaun, es fliegen Funken – der Rennwagen bleibt dann kopfüber auf der Strecke liegen. Kurz später wird Wehrlein befreit. Der Formel-E-Pilot zu SPORT BILD: „Als das Rennen unterbrochen war, wollte ich nur schnellstmöglich raus. Ein Feuer wäre zum Beispiel dramatisch gewesen. Ich brauchte also sofort Hilfe.“ Die Diagnose: Gehirnerschütterung sowie Quetschungen an Brust und Lunge. Beim anschließenden Rennen in Mexiko konnte Wehrlein wieder an den Start gehen – und holte sich den dritten Platz. In der Gesamtwertung liegt der Deutsche aktuell auf Rang 3.
Formel E in Brasilien: Heftiger Abflug für Weltmeister Wehrlein
Größte Enttäuschung: Team Jaguar kämpft bislang mit einer schwierigen Saison. Die Neuseeländer Mitch Evans (30) und Nick Cassidy (30) holten sich in der vergangenen Saison Silber und Bronze, galten als Mit-Favoriten – aktuell müssen sie sich mit Platz 12 und 13 begnügen. Evans gewann den Saison-Start in Brasilien, danach landete er nicht mehr auf dem Podium. Cassidy konnte nur in Monaco jubeln. Dort fuhr er beim Sonntagsrennen auf Platz 3. Cassidy nach dem Rennen: „Es ist ein großartiges Gefühl, zum dritten Mal in Folge in Monaco auf dem Podium zu stehen, vor allem wenn man bedenkt, wie wir in die Saison gestartet sind. Wir müssen konstant um Siege und Podiumsplätze kämpfen, und ich hoffe, dass wir die Kurve gekriegt haben.“

Größter Gewinner: Er rast allen davon: Nissan-Pilot Oliver Rowland (32) ist der Fahrer, den es zu schlagen gilt. 3 Siege, 5 Podestplätze, 115 Punkte. Damit hat der Brite 48 Punkte Vorsprung auf den aktuell Zweitplatzierten Antonio Felix Da Costa (Porsche). Das ist ein gigantischer Abstand für Formel-E-Verhältnisse. Nach seinem erfolgreichen Wochenende in Monaco schreibt Rowland auf Instagram: „Unglaubliches Wochenende in Monaco. Der Sieg im Samstagsrennen und der zweite Platz im Sonntagsrennen! Danke an mein Team, meine Sponsoren und meine Familie für die großartige Unterstützung.“
Erster Erfolg nach 6 Jahren: Formel-E-Märchen in Monaco
Schönster Jubel: Der Routinier Sébastien Buemi (36/Envision Racing) beendet eine Mega-Durststrecke und feiert in Monaco seit 78 Rennen seinen ersten Sieg in der Formel E. Zuletzt hatte er in New York 2019 ganz oben auf dem Podest gestanden. Nach seinem Überraschungssieg im Fürstentum sagt er sichtlich überwältigt: „Es gab Momente, da dachte ich, ich würde nie mehr ein Rennen gewinnen. Aber manchmal braucht es eben etwas Glück und das richtige Timing. Eigentlich bin ich jetzt sprachlos nach der langen Zeit.“
