WNBA players vote to authorize a strike if ‘necessary’: What it means as CBA negotiations continue

The Women's National Basketball Players Association announced Thursday that the union has authorized the executive committee to "call a strike when necessary" as players continue negotiations with the league over a new collective bargaining agreement. It is vital to note that the players are not going on strike right now. Rather, this vote signifies that a majority of the players are willing to go on strike. Per the WNBPA, 93% of eligible players participated in the vote and 98% of the votes were in favor of authorizing a strike if necessary. The historic vote is the latest escalation of the labor battle between the players and the league, which has been raging for over a year. The WNBA has never seen a work stoppage of any kind -- neither a strike nor a lockout -- and has never missed games due to […]

Ole Miss vs. Tulane prediction, pick, spread: Rebels look for second win over Green Wave, this time in CFP

One of two College Football Playoff first-round rematches takes place Saturday when No. 6 Ole Miss hosts No. 11 Tulane. The teams met in September, when Ole Miss rolled to a 45-10 win on its way to an 11-1 regular-season record. That game helped cement Trinidad Chambliss as the Rebels' quarterback of the future. Starting in place of an injured Austin Simmons, Chambliss threw for 307 yards and two touchdowns while adding 112 yards on the ground. Much has changed since that Sept. 20 meeting in Oxford. Lane Kiffin, who led Ole Miss that day, has since departed for LSU. Pete Golding, the defensive coordinator at the time, is now the Rebels' head coach. And Jon Sumrall, who was on the opposite sideline, is juggling two full-time jobs after accepting the Florida position. There's a lot in motion, and that […]
