Desde o comunicado divulgado pela Rockstar Games modificando oficialmente a data de lançamento de GTA VI (Grand Theft Auto) do outono de 2025 para maio de 2026, tanto jogadores quanto a indústria de games estão digerindo os impactos da decisão.
A conta no Reddit r/gta6 bloqueou novas postagens e fixou um texto com um número para uma linha direta de prevenção ao suicídio nos EUA, como uma forma bem humorada (porém com humor questionável) de lidar com a ansiedade dos fãs ante ao aumento no tempo de espera.
Segundo o site Bloomberg, as ações da Take-Two Interactive Software Inc. (desenvolvedora do jogo) despencaram até 10%, já que os investidores terão que lidar com o fato de que a empresa ganhará bilhões de dólares alguns meses depois do esperado.

Além disso, a mudança de data afeta todo o cronograma de lançamentos de games, favorecendo alguns jogos lançados durante 2025, e desfavorecendo os títulos programados para a data mais próxima da nova estimativa, já que poderão ser ofuscados por GYA VI, que renderá assuntos e trends nas redes sociais e na mídia durante semanas após o lançamento, além da preferência do público.
Serão beneficiados títulos como Marathon (com previsão de lançamento em 23 de setembro), Ghost of Yotei (2 de outubro), além de The Outer Worlds 2 e Ninja Gaiden 4, que devem chegar ainda neste ano. Porém, jogos com previsão próxima de maio de 2026 podem ter data de lançamento alterada.
O lançamento do novo Nintendo Switch 2 com seus inúmeros títulos também poderá ser impactado positivamente, visto que os fãs poderão adquirir o console sem se preocupar com outra despesa de jogo com preço elevado também neste ano, pois GTA VI custará entre US$ 100 e US$ 112 em alguns mercados, enquanto um NS 2 chega aos EUA com o preço de US$ 449,99.
Eventos de games também aguardam por uma participação da Rockstar com GTA VI presencialmente, o que seria excelente para fãs e organizadores. Marcelo Tavares, CEO da Brasil Game Show, comentou com o Torcedores.com sobre suas expectativas: “Obviamente seria um título que se saísse esse ano ajudaria muito a alavancar todo o mercado de games, ele impulsiona a venda de consoles, computadores, periféricos, e até mesmo os games concorrentes que teriam um novo patamar de qualidade para mirar“, destaca.
Ele também aguarda um posicionamento da Rockstar sobre a participação no evento: “com certeza será muito bem-vindo se quiser fazer parte das próximas edições da BGS”, salienta.
GTA VI será lançado para as plataformas PlayStation 5 e Xbox Series S/X em 26 de maio de 2026; o game deverá ter uma versão para PC lançada posteriormente, ainda sem previsão.
