The Golden State Warriors looked poised for another deep playoff run this year. Riding the momentum of a mid-season surge and standout performances from veterans like Draymond Green and Klay Thompson, the team seemed locked in. But hopes of reclaiming their championship glory were abruptly dashed when Stephen Curry was sidelined with a hamstring injury that kept him out for the remainder of the season.

Reflecting on the season, head coach Steve Kerr was candid about how much Curry’s absence shaped their playoff exit. “I know we had a shot. I know we could have gone the distance,” Kerr said. “Maybe we wouldn’t have, but it doesn’t matter. Everything in the playoffs is about who stays healthy and who gets hot.”
Statistically, the Warriors were a shell of themselves without Curry. They managed just 104 points per 100 possessions during their series against Minnesota, struggling to find rhythm and offensive leadership. While the Timberwolves deserve credit, there’s no denying Golden State wasn’t at full strength.

Curry’s injury has also sparked discussion about the Warriors‘ future as a championship contender. ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith delivered a sobering take, suggesting the dynasty might truly be over. On First Take, Smith remarked, “I think we’ve seen the last of Steph Curry as a champion in Golden State.”
He pointed to the franchise’s failure to bring back Kevin Durant and the increasing toll of injuries on its core stars. Smith’s comment, though harsh, echoes a sentiment that many fans and analysts are beginning to accept.
