McGregor’s 95th-minute screamer sees Celtic snatch win against St Mirren

Celtic captain Callum McGregor scored a 95th-minute screamer to snatch victory against St Mirren to keep the pressure on Premiership leaders Hearts. After an epic week for Scottish football, it fell flat in Paisley as both sides struggled with no shots on target until deep into the second half. The Buddies, who are now winless in six league games, looked the more likely with Conor McMenamin smashing a chance off the post. Image: Celtic captain Callum McGregor celebrates his stoppage-time winner Liam Scales sent the ball into his own net in the second half, but VAR backed up the on-field decision with McMenamin offside. With seconds left, the ball broke to McGregor and he left Shamal George with no chance as they continued their winning domestic run under Martin O'Neill to move four points behind the Jambos, who face Aberdeen on […]

Notre Dame builds 21-0 lead on Syracuse before offense takes the field

No. 9 Notre Dame’s offense received quite the head start on Saturday against Syracuse. The Fighting Irish scored three touchdowns in the first quarter before its offense took one single snap. That’s what happens when you sandwich two pick-6s around a punt return touchdown. And Jalen Stroman played a big role.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementSyracuse opened the game with the ball and turned the ball over less than a minute into the first quarter when Stroman intercepted a Joseph Filardi pass and returned it 44 yards for a TD and a 7-0 lead. The Orange then went three-and-out on their second drive, and Stroman blocked a Jack Stonehouse punt. The ball bounced right to Luke Talich, and he easily returned the ball 22 yards for a TD.Leonard Moore got in on the fun on Syracuse’s next drive as he intercepted Filardi on third down and returned […]

No. 8 Oklahoma is one win away from the College Football Playoff but the Sooners don’t look like a national title threat

Oklahoma is one victory from the College Football Playoff and, potentially, a home game in the first round. The No. 8 Sooners moved to 9-2 overall with a 17-6 win over No. 22 Missouri on Saturday. After Missouri looked like the far better team for much of the first half, OU flipped the game with an 87-yard catch-and-run TD by receiver Isaiah Sategna III for a 7-3 lead.Less than five minutes later, the Sooners led 14-3 after a short field set up an eight-yard TD catch by Javonnie Gibson.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementThe second half was, to put it nicely, a slog, though Mizzou had a chance to make it a game late in the fourth quarter before a potential fourth-down TD pass from QB Beau Pribula to WR Kevin Coleman fell incomplete. That slog is a big reason why Oklahoma may be a playoff-caliber team […]
