Ab dem 27. November 2025 blickt die Handball-Welt nach Deutschland und die Niederlande. Beide Länder sind bis 14. Dezember das Gastgeber-Duo der 27. Weltmeisterschaft der Frauen. Deutsche Spielorte sind Stuttgart, Trier und Dortmund, in den Niederlanden wird in Rotterdam und s-Hertogenbosch gespielt.
32 Nationen haben sich für das Turnier qualifiziert, Donnerstagabend wurden in s-Hertogenbosch die acht Vorrundengruppen ausgelost.

Los-Glück für Deutschlands Handball-Frauen
Die Auswahl des Deutschen Handballbundes (DHB) ist als Kopf der Gruppe C (Spielort Porsche-Arena in Stuttgart) gesetzt und bekommt es mit Island, Serbien und Uruguay zu tun. Es hätte durchaus schwerer kommen können.
„Wir sind froh, dass wir zwei europäische Teams in der Gruppe haben, weil wir diese Art Handball kennen“, sagt Bundestrainer Markus Gaugisch. „Uruguay ist unbekannt, da sind wir natürlich großer Favorit.“
DHB-Sportvorstand Ingo Meckes fügt an: „Das ist eine interessante Gruppenkonstellation mit einem südamerikanischen Team, den von der EURO bekannten Isländerinnen und den individuell starken Serbinnen.“ Sein Ausblick und Wunsch: „Wichtig ist, dass wir für uns mit drei Siegen für die Hauptrunde qualifizieren, um gute Voraussetzungen für den weiteren Turnierverlauf zu haben.“
[–>Aus jeder Vorrundengruppe qualifizieren sich die ersten Drei für die Hauptrunde. Deutschland würde dann ab dem 2. Dezember in der Dortmunder Westfalenhalle auf drei Gegner aus Gruppe D mit Montenegro, Spanien, den Färöer Inseln und Paraguay treffen.
„Ich bin zufrieden mit unserer Gruppe. Das Eröffnungsspiel gegen Island ist ein gutes Spiel, weil wir von Beginn an da sein müssen“, meint Kapitänin Antje Döll. „Das haben wir zuletzt bei der Europameisterschaft gesehen, wo sich die Niederlande sehr schwergetan haben im ersten Spiel gegen Island. Von der Erfahrung von der EM können wir aber mit Selbstvertrauen in die Partie gehen. Uruguay ist eine Mannschaft, die wir noch nie gespielt haben. Da sind wir der klare Favorit.“
Titelverteidiger sind die Französinnen, Deutschland belegte bei der WM 2023 den sechsten Platz.
