The New York Knicks had the win in their hands-until Olivia Dunne showed up, according to some seriously angry fans.
What was supposed to be a glittering night of basketball at Madison Square Garden turned into a superstition-fueled meltdown as social media sensation Olivia Dunne and her sister Julz found themselves at the center of an online firestorm.
It all started innocently enough on May 21, with Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals packing the Garden to its rafters. Among the 19,812 fans in attendance were Livvy and Julz, who had front-row box seats to the action-and unknowingly, front-row seats to a fanbase’s rage.
Mid-game, Olivia posted a playful TikTok showing herself in Knicks gear, sipping a drink with the cheeky caption, “This is great and all but how does this affect Lebron’s legacy?” Cute? Maybe. Cursed? According to Knicks fans, absolutely.
Did Olivia jinxed the Knicks?
As the Knicks blew a 17-point lead in the final minutes-culminating in a stunning 138-135 Pacers comeback led by Tyrese Haliburton and Aaron Nesmith-fans weren’t just looking at the scoreboard. They were looking at Livvy.
“Thanks for jinxing us ladies,” one furious commenter wrote. “Don’t go back to anymore games.” Another declared: “Stay away from the Knicks, you’re a jinx.” And that was one of the kinder ones.
Even gymnast Suni Lee caught stray heat. Once hailed as a good luck charm for Knicks guard OG Anunoby, she was now being blamed alongside the Dunne sisters for “breaking the spell.” One fan summed up the internet’s wild blame game: “Livvy got the Pirates stank on my Knicks.” Ouch.
Meanwhile, on Instagram, Julz Dunne’s glam-filled recap of the night drew sarcastic jabs like, “Yeah, you change the game all right-from a Knicks victory to a loss.”
There are no curses
Did a TikTok really cost the Knicks the game? Of course not. Missed free throws, shaky defense, and a Pacers heat check were the real culprits. But when heartbreak hits hard, fans need someone to blame.
Livvy and Julz, for their part, have stayed silent-no clapbacks, no apologies, just courtside cool.
Rick Carlisle, coach of the victorious Indiana Pacers, dismissed the jinx talk with a shrug: “It was awfully high,” he said of the game’s intensity. But for Knicks fans, the only thing higher than the Pacers’ shooting percentage might be their frustration with a couple of influencers who picked the wrong night to go viral.
