Lonzo Ball favors the Minnesota Timberwolves to acquire Kevin Durant

The Phoenix Suns left the 2024-25 season with more questions than answers after failing to make the playoffs and finishing with a disappointing 36-46 record. Growing tensions on and off the court may force the team to make tough decisions, including potentially parting ways with Kevin Durant, which would significantly alter the franchise’s structure.

In February, Durant nearly returned to the Warriors, which would have shaken up the NBA landscape. Although the deal did not go through, Durant‘s future remains uncertain because his contract with the Suns lacks a no-trade clause.

Kevin Durant gets roasted after attending a WNBA Golden State game

Since leaving the Warriors in 2019, Durant has played for the Brooklyn Nets and the Phoenix Suns but has not returned to the NBA Finals. While his talent is undeniable, his prolonged absence from the Finals keeps the debate open about the true extent of his legacy in the NBA.

As time passes, doubts continue to grow to the point that Lonzo Ball of the Chicago Bulls has dared to predict Kevin Durant’s next destination.

Game Recap: Wings @ Dream (5/24/25)

The Minnesota Timberwolves are the favorites to sign KD?

Several franchises will likely try to add a crucial piece to boost their candidacy during this offseason. Lonzo Ball has even mentioned Minnesota.

He even offered ideas for a trade.

“If the Wolves fall short, Kevin Durant will help them overcome the challenge. I would trade Rudy Gobert for KD. I’d put Anthony Edwards at one, KD at two, Jaden McDaniels at three, Julius Randle at four, and Naz Reid at five,”Ball said on The WAE Show.

Ball‘s proposal breaks with convention and may surprise more than a few people. What that group has in abundance is skill and potential.

In any deal, the Suns will ask for more than just Gobert from the Timberwolves. The French player has two additional years guaranteed in his contract, along with an option for the 2027-28 season. Therefore, for Durant to be traded, the Timberwolves will have to make an irresistible offer.
