Travis Kelce joins NFL legend at charity golf event before Chiefs minicamp

With the Kansas City Chiefs’ mandatory minicamp not set to begin until June 17, star tight end Travis Kelce is making the most of his offseason. And like always, he is taking advantage of hist time to spend it on a good cause.

On Monday, he was spotted alongside former NFL tight end and current Fox Sports analyst Greg Olsen at Olsen’s annual charity golf tournament. The event brought together notable figures from the football world in support of philanthropic efforts, with Kelce’s appearance drawing particular attention.

Two NFL legends in one picture

Kelce, 35, is heading into his 13th NFL season with the Chiefs after briefly considering retirement following Kansas City’s Super Bowl loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. Widely regarded as one of the best tight ends in NFL history, Kelce’s longevity and consistent playoff dominance have placed him at the center of debates about the greatest ever at the position.

Olsen, now 40, retired after the 2020 season and is best remembered for his tenure with the Carolina Panthers, where he earned three Pro Bowl selections and helped lead the team to the Super Bowl during the 2015-16 campaign alongside MVP Cam Newton. He now serves as a lead NFL analyst for Fox Sports.

While quarterback Patrick Mahomes has been enjoying his own offseason moments by recently attending Texas Tech softball games, Kelce’s appearance with Olsen offered a glimpse of NFL camaraderie and legacy off the field.

As minicamp approaches, all eyes will soon return to football. But for now, Kelce continues to enjoy his break, blending charity, community, and connection with the game’s past greats.

Comparing Olsen and Klece, tight-end’s world

Olsen made his name with the Carolina Panthers after stints with the Bears and Seahawks. A three-time Pro Bowler, he tallied over 8,600 receiving yards and 60 touchdowns, playing a vital role in the Panthers’ run to Super Bowl 50 alongside Cam Newton.

Kelce remains active and dominant with the Kansas City Chiefs, entering his 13th season. His career numbers have redefined the position: more than 11,000 receiving yards, 70+ touchdowns, and an NFL-record seven straight 1,000-yard seasons for a tight end. Unlike Olsen, Kelce has thrived in the postseason, helping lead the Chiefs to three Super Bowl titles and becoming a centerpiece of one of the league’s most dynamic offenses.

While Olsen is now with Fox Sports, Kelce continues to elevate his game and legacy. Both men brought skill, intelligence, and leadership to their teams, but Kelce’s historic production and playoff performances have placed him at the top of the all-time tight end conversation, alongside names like Rob Gronkowski and Tony Gonzalez.

Their recent meeting was a reminder of the evolving greatness at the tight end position-past and present.
